OK, I will finally post some pics of the beast since I cleaned the filthy bastard. I have had it since Nov 07 and just hit 8,000 miles. By farthe best Mustang that ford has ever made, fit and finish is very good, and with a few mods this thing pulls like a freight train but still is completly streetable. A fantastic car.
Clutch took a little getting used to (stalled twice right out of the lot), as I haven't driven anything close to this type of power in about 30 years. After getting the throttle and slip down, it seems just fine.
The 2nd gear thing is concerning however, as it's grinding a bit. I'm going see if the dealer will correct the issue as per the TSB. I don't want clutch / flywheel problems.
Took her through the first three gears for the first time; no hopping. Shift to 2nd was smooth as silk, and again, no hops... just a little rear end swirve to driver side, and quickly straightened out.
Love the ride... it's addicting, and better than I ever imagined.
Also, I'm amazed at how these new machines handle, especially compared to my 70 Mach I, and my 88 5.0.
After each drive, I'm very energized... but relaxed at the same time.. if that makes sense. Oh yea... smiling too.

I have a 2009 with a cai/tvs/tune (the ford racing package), the fr3 handling package, and a roush exhaust.
Every time I drive the car, I am thoroughly impressed by the packages ford put together for this car. It's stupidly fast yet drives like a stocker until you hit the gas. The ride is firm, yet comfortable, and it handles quite well for such a heavy ass car.
So before I bought this car I was in the market for a cheap used car to do mods to. I am 20 and decided that my drag only S-10 was going to be that, so I wanted something easy to drive on the street but still fast. I knew boost was going to be the way I went. I started the quest looking for a 98-2002 firebird WS6 in the rare sunset orange color. Let me mention that before I bought the car I also was really biased toward GM with the LS-X motors (have that in my s-10, my dad's 2000 firehawk, both are FAST FAST FAST N/A cars) so after some bad cars and guys wanting too much I went to a local dealer that we do work for.
Well, jokingly my salesman who is a personal friend says "Well the owner has a Blue GT500 you should buy!" I laughed it off and got information on a 2009 GT. Coming home my mother didn't like the idea of "just some old other mustang GT" and so I mentioned about the owner's car. Well within minutes she was on E-bay looking at KR's and Super Snakes and the likes. She loved the look of the car never having seen one. So I told him I was interested as she pretty much talked me into being willing to spend the money up front.
Dealer calls and asks if I am truly interested in the car, to which I reply "Yes if the price is right" and without negotiating and knowing us from working with him and purchasing our trucks and SUV's from him, he replies "$39,000 takes it no questions"
Well my dad surprised me an hour later bringing me to his lincoln dealer where the car was sitting, and the owner tossed me the keys and told me to take it for a ride, and I was SHAKING. As soon as I sat into the car, I knew it was me, I knew that it fit everything I wanted. That said, 2 hours later after work I was at the dealer signing papers to take it home that night!
I have since put 4000 miles on the car and I love ever single second I get into the car. I love hearing it start with that new deep exhaust, the roar, the screaming eaton, tires ripping off it effortlessly. This car really is a prime example of why my blood is always pumping at 93 octane or more!
looks good. Mine is the same color. Just got mine a few weeks ago too.
You should cut 1 coil from your rear springs. The car sits so much nicer that way, and doesn't look all jacked up. Lowers it one inch in the back. you will still have a slight rake though. retains stock ride, handling.

Well with the Shelby just recently having passed 10k km on the clock, figured it was time for a bit of a review on how it's been so far. As a quick recap, I picked the car up in Feb. of this year and it went on the road in early April as my daily driver.
So it's now seen five months of use in the daily grind averaging 2k km a month. I've used it for everything for heading to/from work, shopping, weekend getaways, cruise nights, and on a (frequent) whim to just get out and drive and blow the cob webs out. And the car has performed great and never missed a beat in whatever was asked of it. My wife also drives it from time to time and has found it to be an easy and pleasant car to put around in. The Shelby is a very capable car in most respects and painlessly fulfills the requirements of a daily driver IMO. It's comfortable, decent on gas (well most times ), can carry a fair load of stuff when you need it too, and can carry you for miles in air conditioned ease without beating you to death or making you wish for your uncle's Buick *L*.
I've had just one scheduled (oil change) and one unscheduled stop at the dealer, the latter to have a new driver side door speaker replaced. So no reliability "issues" there with the car at all. Even the clutch (mine is an early '09 build so it didn't get the upgraded parts) is still performing flawlessly - no slipping/grinding or fighting to go into any gear. That may still be a ticking time bomb, but so far so good. The car is still nice and solid with no annoying squeaks or rattles, even the more amazing there with it being a 'vert and on a lowered suspension. There is some cowl shake over really broken surfaces, but this car is really solidly built - noticeably more so than what I remember with my old '97 GT.
The Shelby's performance still takes my breath away, and although I've (mostly) gotten used to it's gobs of power, it has not yet reached the point where I'm left wanting more. It's a big, heavy car and you can certainly feel that at times, but when you put the hammer down, all that heft just seems to instantly melt away, leaving you with this huge $hit-eating ear to ear grin plastered across your face! The car is severely traction limited in first and second gear, but I hope the new DR's I have ordered will help convert some more of that tail-wagging fun into straight line thrust. Other than that, I can't ask no more from the car for now. I've got a few more plans for next year, but they'll be evolutionary not revolutionary.
Looks? The car never fails to turn heads, even with Shelby's having now been on the road for a few years, and I still get people just walk up out of the blue to ask questions and talk about it, to no end sometimes it seems *L*.
To sum up, I admit I had some reservations about the car before I first picked it up - mostly surrounding it's ability to work as a DD what with all the talk on various boards about it's clutch/transmission issues, and what some described as a fairly brutal ride. But the last few months of pretty well constant use have laid all that to rest, for myself anyway, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the car to anyone looking for a performance ride that can also be used as a "real car" for everyday use.
new driving impression from the mile. this car stuck to the track like i never expected! i was expecting a mustang and i got a real car
