nascar uses dyno jet because of money. the same reason they use goodyear. the same reason cart uses firestone. its all based on money and contracts.
dynojet, mustang dyno, superflow who really cares. the dyno's are used fur tuning. and once you have your conversion rate for each dyno it really does not matter what dyno your using.
also most if not all of the nascar teams build engines on engine dynos. this is where they gain/lose power. they everything about that engines numbers before it even sniffs a car. and as you say the chasis dyno is the tool they use to check thier conversions(when they compare to the engine dyno).
the dynojet numbers that i have seen with the gt500 have been 440-460. yes 480 is a great pull. does your numbers suprise me no. it had a better tune straight from the factory. also the shop of the pull should have all read outs from prevoius customers. ask them for a printout of a past pull and they should be able to get for you.

Explain this to me then, because I dont understand......My car right now puts 565 and 565 on the dyno at Evolution performance, but on a dynojet it puts down 630 and 635......
i thought evolution used dynojet? what do they use?

wow this thread turned for the worse in a hurry.
Guys, his car put down awsome numbers. Shut the F up and quit whinning and saying yours made more or you know someone that made more.
A dyno is a tool for tuning a car, not bragging rights. The 1/4 is for bragging rights.
when saleen received my shelby Gt500,they dynoed it,and told me it dynoed at 460/rear-wheel-HP.As the blower heated up on the other dyno runs it lost 10/15-Hp,with the roots blower from ford. They put there twin screw-Lyshon blower on,and were going to run it on the dyno. I'm still waitting to see those #s,of before, and new #s. Does any one know which Dyno Saleen-Mustang-uses. A Dyno-Jet/or what, just courious. Please inform me if you know which dyno saleen uses to dyno there mustangs/S7.
Still good #s,no matter how you look at it,no matter which dyno was used,on his Shelby Gt500.

I went by RET today to hang out for a little while. There was a Shelby on the dyno, the car had 138 mi. on it. It was completely stock, heres the before/after
Well guys
Here's a no BS dyno figure for a ACTUAL BONE STOCK Shelby about 10 min ago at HPP Racing. 491HP/470TQ SAE
Ford did a great on the tune this time. On the stomp, timing started at 17* and slowly climbed to 23* fairly early and stayed there til the end. The transition form closed loop to open loop was very quick and once in open loop, it maintained 11.6-11.7 A/F all the way. I'm very impressed.
that is 8 more degrees of timing than my car produced on a cool socal night. Just doesn't make sense to me. But, as I said; very nice. IRRC, the factory commands 15-17 degrees...so 23 is very strange. Perhaps ford screwed up or somebody is pulling your chain, or perhaps was merely misinformed.

I'm not misinformed, no one is pulling my chain and Ford didn't screw up. The tune is too damn good to be a screw up. I was at the back of the car on the first pull to check for detonation and I had to see the datalog when Manny told me the timing. Maybe you have an early flash.
Jeeeeeez............a kid......no wonder!

if ford does not allow the gt500 to leave the factory with more than 17 degrees and this gt500 left the factory at 23 degrees someone indeed messed up.
remember ford does not tune these cars for the most power. they tune them to be within a restricted range in which they feel is both safe and durable. for a gt500 to be at 23 degrees, this is far beyond what ford considers a factory tune!

Who says they DON'T allow the cars to leave the factory with more than 17*????? They sure as heck did this one! Maybe they were experimenting that week!I haven't seen a SVT or Ford Official or Tech post up in this thread saying that they don't let them leave that way. LOL!
The damn car is bone friggin stock. What is so dang hard to understand??
Please don't insult Dave or any of the others member on this board! We're all here for one purpose and that's to share in the excitement and knowledge of this great vehicle.
I also find it quite odd that a car would come with that kind of timing from the factory. If it was 10 degrees outside and you had all of the doors and windows in the shop open at the time of the tune, that might explain the timing on your car?
We are NOT accusing you of lying to us! All we are saying is, it's NOT the norm to have that kind of timing on a vehicle from the factory. You can certainly put in there, but for it to be delivered like that is very strange. Hopefully we can all find that out someday?

lets look at this logically. to your first question, if ford wanted this type of tune on the gt500(and believe my they tried this and hundreds of other tunes on this blown 5.4) the gt500 would have a hp rating of 560 crank horsepower. do you really believe that ford wants some gt500 to have 500hp crank and some to have 560hp crank? and then make it a lottery for who gets what?
ford wants the tunes and the horsepower output in all the gt500 to be as close as possible. this is all we are saying. a 60hp swing either way is not close.
i have never once questioned the truth in your original statement/s. regardless of having that tune come from the factory or an outside source makes no difference to you, me, or the car itself. all that matters is the car is making that type of horsepower today!
I don't have all the details but mine last night made 492 with exhaust only... I will get all the info tomorrow and post it. 491 on a stock tune is hard to believe when 440 has been the average. Could this have been a 3rd gear pull?
