dosen't this style pin fit into a recess in the hood that our cars don't have? seems like the shelby GT pins sit on top of a regular hood but the KR's might have to have the hood too

This was the KR and SS hood (frontal view) comparision that I had added a couple of months ago. Yes, the KR's hood has a recess for each twist lock to fit in. The Shelby GT pins do sit on the surface, but the SS hood has a different contour than the Shelby GT hood, so plain old flat hood pin plates are used on the SS instead of the nice billit alum. parts as used on the Shelby GT. But then again, the original 1967 GT500 Super Snake also had plain old flat hood pins................

The KR and SS hoods are different but as to the OPs question, Yes, the KR pins can be purchased as they are the same pin as used on the 68KR and are available from Tony Branda Shelby parts.

JC - That is cool that the 68KR locks were brought over to the current KR. Can you post a picture of your Branda KR hood? Are the independent hood letters also available through Branda parts?

Thanks, R

The hool locks are available from Tony Branda, the hood itself is a TruFiber Venom that has been modified to more closely resemble the real KR. Here are some photos:

and here is a link to the album if anyone would like to see a few more of the car and its mods:
