Taking paint off wheels?

I have some fr500's that are black centers with SB painted lip. I'm wanting to go back to the regular polished lip and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on the best route to take.

Also, once I remove the paint would I need to get some clear sprayed onto the bare metal or is it ok to go without anything protecting the bare metal?
Thanks

I can't speak for the painted lip, but the best paint removal I have used is TAL-STRIP that you buy in a spray can at most automotive paint stores. I used it to repaint my intercooler piping and it removed about 10 layers of my spray paint along with the factory powdercoating all in one shot. Just don't get it on you.

Aircraft Stripper works really well overall. A little slow, but effective.

Also, once stripped do NOT let it sit on the bare aluminum. It will turn it black.

Once you have it stripped and clean, you can either polish the lips and leave them raw, or clear them. Personally, I would clear them so you don't have to polish them all the time.

Thanks for the tips guys. I wasn't sure if there is a heavy duty clear for the bare metal or if and standard clear would work.
Thanks again.
