Thanks man! Yeah, alot of sanding and prep to get the wood smooth tho. The stock was in pretty bad shape. But 6 coats of tru oil, scuffing in between with 0000 steel wool. Then doing 4 more coats and wet sanding with 2000 grit between them yields an amazing result.

Got a question for you guys. My M1 Garand wouldn't fire the last time i went to the range. The firing pin never made contact with the cartridge. Tore down the gun, took apart the bolt and found the firing pin cover in cosmoline, which I was surprised with since the rest of the gun didn't have any sign of cosmoline anywhere. Do you guys think that is the cause of it not firing? Or could it be something else that will annoy me? lol

    Battle Mug http://www.battlemug.com

Battle Mug starts life as a 13.5 pound solid block of 6061 T6 billet aluminum before it enters a state of the art CNC facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This facility produces specialized parts and equipment for the U.S. Department of Defense, major weapons manufacturers, NASA, and a host of other companies working at the U.S. Rocket and Space Center.

Built to military specifications, Battle Mug features a M1913 rail interface system which allows the operator to mount a standard issue M4 carry handle, tactical light, laser device, holographic sight (we call them beer goggles) or even a bayonet for close quarters, high risk operations.

Each individually serialized Battle Mug is built with the Operator in mind and features Mil-Spec Type III anodizing and a crenelated base.
Whether you are fighting drug lords deep in the jungles of Colombia, stomping out Al Qaida terrorists in Fallujah Iraq, or fighting off the undead as Zombies try to eat your brain, Battle Mug is there.

A tactical cup? They should paint it black and raise the price.

"tactical" is the latest buzz word. If they painted it black would it be
    tactical tactical?

It depends on how old and dried out the cosmoline was, if it just wiped off the pin easily it's probably not the problem, if it's thick and hard, yes, it may have been the problem. You should not only clean the pin but soak the bolt in gasoline or lacquer thinner and scrub the firing pin hole with pipe cleaners to get the cosmoline out. DOD dipped these rifles in cosmoline before long term storage, the shit got into every nook and cranny.

Picked up a new Saiga 12 yesterday. Just need to do the conversion. So, in the last month I've bought a Sig Sauer m400 and a Saiga 12. I'm a happy guy. Been eyeballing the Ruger Gunsite Scout as well. Looks like a fun gun.

Picked up a Talo Vaquero 45acp to match my blackbird this weekend. Ran 50rds downrange with good results, it's a keeper for sure and quite cheap to feed as well.

I have been sick an unable to shoot it, SWFA is right up the street and I checked out others like it such as the Vortex Razor HD and didn't see it being that far superior to spend 1300 bucks

Took the M1 to the range today, fired without any issues. It was odd that the firing pin had so much cosmoline on it, the rest of the gun had nothing at all on it.

The only good thing about waiting 6 months for a firearm is you end up stocking up on "mods & mags".
