Warning fuel pump question

I have a 1999 GT and i have a upgraded fuel pump, ford focus (supports the turbo kit) and i seem like the pump went out.. i dropped the tank and reconnected everything but the fuel line and it lets out a drop. i hear the pump come on but its not as loud as normal. my question is do i go out and spend between 80 and 140 bucks for a pump and thats not it or could it be the FPDM? how would i tell? nobody seems to know the answer
