how do i make close to 400 rwhp out of a 97 teksid block motor.
wat bolts ons work and dont?
any tips or porting that needs to be done?
opinion please!
If you want 400rwhp n/a you are going to have to rebuild the engine. You can get close with out rebuilding the shortblock but you will need ported heads, cams, and a shortrunner intake alon with all the bolt ons. Thing is when swapping heads and cams you need to remove the engine so at that point you might as well rebuild the engine sine its going to be out. The easy way is forced induction. Bolt on a blower and supporting mods, get a tune and your good to go.
No idea why so many people are hard pressed to stay N/A, but still want huge power. Its really easy to slap a blower on the stock motor and make 450whp and drive the thing every day. A 400whp n/a build will be expensive and you probably won't want to drive it all the time.

I love the sound of my cams and being different than every other car.
I didn't want to be like every other sn95 Cobra..and just be bolt on and gears with a centri-blower...
its not just a numbers game for me, 450rwhp is nice and all..but I'd rather have my setup than that to be honest. N/A or Whipple for me.
what are your goals for your car? that will really help people give you a direction in which can be both powerful and cost benificial while remaining fun.

You can get 380 with the stock shortblock, ported heads, custom cams, short runner intake, long tubes, IMRC deletes, TB, 90mm maf, 30lb injectors and a small diameter dampener.
To get 400rwhp I recommend a stroker along with the mods I listed above.

Ok well technically you can do the swap while its still in the car but every shop I've talked to says they pull the engine. And if you do it yourself you will be better off pulling it as well.

wrong
thanks for the info todd. now i know what i need to get where i want to be
well my plans for the car is to have a fun street car, be able to drive it 2 class( still in college) and be able to dip in the 12's..
heres wat i got so far...
long tube headers, x pipe, magnaflow magnapacks cat back...
mmr imrc deletes.
4:10 gears
jlt cold air intake
and was gonna port the intake and get a bigger throttle body...
oh and my power adder of choice is nitrous im thinking 125 shot..
so with this i should be well into the 400rwhp range correct?
and alos i heard you can cut the runners on the intake and get more power is this true...?
these motors blow!!! lmao should have stuck with my head cammed sn95 it made 400 rwhp..
so basically i need camms, head work and an intake. with a built motor to make any power?
or just slap a s-trim around 14lbs and itll put down 400rwhp....
im just gonna stay bolt on and nitrous and be slow.... well see wat the car puts down when ken @ modular depot tunes it in a couple weeks..

A H/C/I 5.0 sn95 making 400rwhp? I would love to see that

A Strim on 14# will make more than 500rwhp. I'm making 400rwhp with 8# and only 2 degree of timing!
im just gonna stay bolt on and nitrous and be slow.... well see wat the car puts down when ken @ modular depot tunes it in a couple weeks..
will these cars run 12? lmao
You sound like a LS owner coming in here to dis our cars.
And there is a guy on here that posted the other day who ran high 12's with minimal bolt ons and STREET TIRES!

you can get 12s with a set of gears as sticky tires. Try that with a pushrod SN95.
You do not need a built motor to make power. I know people that have gone 10s with stock shortblocks.

I stand corrected. I was wrong saying that boost is needed for 400rw but doing it with the stock shortblock is not possible
Any info on the stock shortblocks going 10's? N/A?
