How do I remove the wrist pin retaining clips

I need to know how to remove the wrist pin retaining clips from my factory rods and pistons. I plan on reusing the retainers on my 03 rods and pistons. It seems like they are difficult to take out.

You need a tool to remove them properly.Any auto parts shop should carry them.About 20 bucks or so.

I always just took a small flat blade screwdriver and compressed the ring using one of the two semicircular cutouts in the wrist pin bore. They fly though, so be carefull not to lose one across the shop.

yeah- mine flew out after, and I didn't want to reuse them so I used them for keeping the secondary tensioners compressed. for what it's worth- I like the spiral locks 100x better than the single pin lock of the stock setup.

I didn't know you could use spiral locks in stock pistons. Hmm nice either way it's done and the stuff is at the machine shop getting balanced.

honestly I never tried- I actually meant spiral locks for aftermarket pistons. I wonder if you would have to machine for spirals on a stock piston. but then again why would use stock pistons if you were replacing other parts too- even on an 03/04 - those pistons suck
