THE MOST COMPLETE Lowering Spring Research Thread -
After searching this forum for answers and opinions (going back several years), I have found that the lowering spring set-ups and the opinions on them are endless. New questions on lowering springs are posted almost daily… hopefully this thread may be used as THE resource for lowering our terminators.
Please offer:
• Photo of your car
• Your spring choice, which isolators you used and where (ie: MM’s up front - stock out back, stock isolators all around, removed isolators, etc.)
• Caster/Camber plates: stock? MM? etc.
• Positive and negative characteristics of your set-up (too low, too high, handles better, etc.)
Info on cutting springs would be helpful, too.

the opinion on ISOLATORS so far:
LOW - MM poly isolators (many use MM isolators in front, stock in rear)
LOWER - stock isolators (may be too low in front for H&R SS springs)
LOWEST - remove isolators

"VOTING" IS GREAT - - BUT PLEASE ADD YOUR INPUT AND EXPERIENCE AS IT IS EVEN MORE HELPFUL TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T COMPLETED THIS MODIFICATION.
You must "VOTE" to view the poll results...
Bring it on!

It'd probably be best if you commented on this part only if you have problems with the setup like bottoming out or if handling goes bad or handling goes good. Too high or too low is such an objective opinion to everyone.
Sounds like a great idea though.
Stock Isolators all around, MM Camber/Caster Plates. Handles better then stock, however some Subframe Connectors would be nice. It was the exact drop I was looking for and could'nt be happier!

Girth it looks perfect. Great color! That is the set up I'm going with come spring time.

I have H&R Sport Springs on right now with stock iso's and steeda c/c plates, but I have the H&R Race Springs sitting at home that will be going on soon.
The H&R Sport Springs are not good for a daily driver, they bottom out on almost every speed bump or at least scrape. They are the lowest drop possible besides coil-overs. They are too soft for being how low they are, and I didn't see any differance in handling from stock.
I'll let ya'll know the difference between the two once I have the race springs put on.

I didn't think it was low enough but every speed bump reminds me it is low enough ..
O and Scott remember when spark/flames came out on that dip in the the road on 270/495 ?

Girth...your ride sits perfectly IMHO. Is your '03 a daily driver? How do you like the ride with the Race springs over stock? There pretty stiff. RE subframe connectors...go for it. They REALLY made a big difference in stiffening up my '01. Night and Day.

It's not my daily but the Springs ride great, maybe a tad stiffer then stock but nothing to the point were you are bottoming out left and right and catching air It rides pretty similar to stock and handles a little better. I would like to do the Subframe Connectors and I think from that point, I will be done with the suspension. The car sits a tad higher in the back, but like I said, the drop IMO is perfect! Thanks to Maliclipse for talking me into getting the H&R Race Springs

Do you mean compared to stock or just the overall rake appearance of it WITH the race springs? Would you ever install them without the isolators? I was thinking about doing so...

I have a set of H&R race with the front isos removed and stock isos in the rear. It sits just a little lower than Girths. I would post pics but my camera isnt working..
