Nice job Mike! Now all you need to do is wire in an outlet and some lighting and you're good to go. :-)

I think that is a sweet idea. I was thinking about doing the same thing. Only significant difference I would do is make the center section under the car removable once the car was up in the air.

Example:

One suggestion though, you should consider crossbraces in the front, at least. It would add a lot of side to side rigidity.

Again, nice work.

Dana
I thought about a cross brace, but it will make getting in and out very difficult. I'm happy with the way it holds the car up. When it was on the lift I tried rocking it back and forth and it wouldn't budge. Thanks for the advice though.

For the most part it won't be in the elements. It dissembles into 4 parts that fit in my basement. It might see a little rain if it's out for a day or two, but I am not too concerned. It will only be out when I am modding or repairing.

It's stuck in 4th. The clutch is working but it will not come out of 4th. Something is definately broken inside. It's at my friend shop now and dissasembly starts on Monday. Time to learn how to rebuild a t56. yippie! This sucks because I might not have my car together in time for the next saturday test and tune.

I put the wood there to prevent any type of rock back and forth presented when the car is initially pushed onto the lift. Maybe you can remove it but I am content with leaving it where it is.

I would make it a little wider than 2x10's and have a 2x4 as a guide on the outter so it would be kinda hard to run it off, even if someone was guiding you on. I have all of the stuff to make mine as soon as we get our spool gun together so I can weld aluminum again, it is 2 foot high, so how long are your ramps??

It's in the driveway at the moment. Since my tranny is broken and I won't be able to install my torque arm/panhard bar/lcas/sub frames (the main reason I made the ramp. It's going to stored in the basement for a few days until I get the tranny fixed.

BTW: Redneck is a racest word!... Please use Appalachian American

You know what, anyone who has an oversized commercial type area/garage (with a tall overhead door) could build the same thing (it's portable!) and set it up in the garage when you need the lift. Much much cheaper than a lift.
