I love my FR500 from Ford racing. It's quiet, but louder than stock. I thought it might slow my car down when it replaced my Borla stingers, but I still ran 11's at 118 MPH.
magnaflow cb with the stock h pipe is pretty quiet at idle and cruising but has just enough volume to tell it's not stock. At WOT you know it's there. Personally I'd like to take mine up a notch, may be a magnaflow catted x pipe or mrt catted H.

I have the Magnaflow catted X and catback... I love it.
Much better than stock, sounds great when you get into it, esp above 4K RPM.
The wife thinks it is too loud for road trips, so it must be just about right

FR500 is quietest aftermarket - it was designed to be a potential stock piece.
Borla (not Stinger) is not too bad but still pretty loud.
All aftermarket exhausts other than the FR500 are pretty loud and have significant highway drone. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

hmm I dont know the FR500's sounded pretty freakn loud to me.
I went with the magnaflow x pipe and magnaflow catback with jba headers.
sounds stock when started, but a deeper rumble. Everyone seems to like the sound, its a low frequency rumble, sounds good under heavy throttle but not
raspy at all. Not loud enough to draw any attention unless its WOT.
the lower exhaust note seems to make it harder to hear.
stingers, and such are way loud and noisy.
my magnaflow setup with the jba's has no drone at normal highway speeds, its too low a note to be heard even over the mildest volume on the stereo.
it maybe the headers make it sound a bit different then others with the same magnaflow setup, but its not loud, no drone(not all cobras have that, thats a myth unless you have a borla or bassani exhaust).
As for the FR500 my other cobra friend had that and I couldn't hear my own exhaust over his so not sure sure about the FR500.

I have the MRT catted H-pipe and FR500 combination, it is a little louder than stock. It is not too loud compared to the Magnaflow catted X-pipe and Magnaflow cat-back that it replaced. The tone and sound quality of the Magnaflow was good, but I wanted to quieten the car a bit, while retaining a free breathing exhaust. I first replaced the Magnaflow system with the stock H-pipe and FR500, it was so quiet that I could barely hear the engine at idle, and felt pretty restricted as the revs climbed. I also tried the Magnaflow catted X-pipe with the FR500, it was a deep sound, but a little too "busy" (sounded like it was revved high all the time) for my taste.

Not to be conceded but my MagnaFlow Cat-Back with Bassani Baffle's sound better! My Exhaut sounds Saleenish. When I down shift I do not have the bubbling nosie like you get with some other Exhaust brands.
The only catback I'd recommend if you want something a tad louder than stock would be the FR500. All of the others are going to be LOUD, LOUDER and LOUDEST. The Magnaflow catback is not quiet. I had one. I really think you'll be very pleased with the FR500.

so after listening to that clip I have a feeling my magnaflow x-pipe and magnaflow catback is so quiet because of the headers.

I also wanted to get a pretty quiet cat back, but I still wanted the performance gains.
My choices came down to
1) FR500 - most quiet
2) Steeda - 2nd quietest
It was a tough call, but I decided to go with the FR500. You probably can't go wrong with either.
this sounds much higher pitch then my exhaust, mine is a much lower rumble which probably makes it seem not as loud. so I think thats the big difference.
you really cant hear my car when I start it up, the engine makes more noise then the exhaust.(whipple 600rwhp)
but if you have stock headers and h-pipe its looking like the vote is for FR500.
leave the stocker on or trade the car in.... rememeber youve got a cobra.... **** EM..... make yourself happy

You have to call Bassani, or if you are local pick them up. $70.00. They found out what the MagnaFlow clan has been doing so they raised the price last year. They use to be $35.00.

a few years ago, they wouldn't even sell them unless you had a Bassani exhaust already...
that's a cool setup and something I'll consider after I get a midpipe
