Question for everyone. I have a 04 Cobra, basically stock. What would be the best gear to start the burn out from, and do you shift during? I hear 2nd is the best. Is this true? Any input greatly appreciated. Dying to do my first burnout and don't want to screw anything up.
First burnout just use 1st. Right heal on brake and right toes on gas. Left foot works the clutch. Don't push the brake through the floor board either. If you want to after the clutch is out you can switch feet on the brake lol. Tach it up a little so it has no chance of dying. Maybe 3,500 to 4,000 rpm's. Then after you rool out and before the car's mph catches up with the tach hit 2nd gear and you'll really lay some marks. Just be careful!!!

Just doing my part to keep BFG and the other guys in business. Your welcome.
Just try and not let it bog or slip the clutch to much. Once you commit the car will handle it.
Do not let it wheelhop!!! If it starts to then let out of it. Also it might hop like once or twice on the initial hit so just throttle through that lol. That's another reason to use more rpm's. It'll just blow the tires off.
Or here's an easier way but not as cool IMHO.
Just dump it in 1st and then use your left foot to hit the brake. It's easy but there's allways a witness line where the black marks start of someone doing that. It works but it shocks the car a lot also when you slam on the brake.
I haven't tried a burnout yet in the 04. I'm always afraid of it wheel hopping or something. I used to (in my 95) just slip the clutch in first, wouldn't even have to give it more than 1/2 gas, it would start spinning, and I would bring the rpms up to around 4500, and shift to 2nd.
From what I've read, you can drop the clutch, or do it this way. But for a basically stock 04, would it require more than 1/2 throttle to get it to spin in 1st. In my 95, I would bring the rpms around 3000 and then start slipping the clutch in 1st, is this about right for the 04?
Doing a burnout is no different with an IRS car or a solid axle car. Rev car, dump clutch, move foot to brake = tire smoke. As long as you want to keep the right foot to the floor will vary.
that is a good way to do one but i like to hold the brake with my heel while i push the gas with the front of my shoe and let out of the clutch thats what i did in this vid
All gooooooooooooodddddd! I've always liked Joe's GT.
If you've never watched this WHOLE vid. do it.
I always liked how the smoke immediately billows from the back!
Also how a run at the track can get waaaaaay out of shape in a hurry!

Thanks! The new ones were in the back seat waiting to go on!
I wanted to do that last week, when I got new shoes on my baby, but Discount Tire was closing and I didn't have time to "smoke em" up.. (and didn't have my video camera with me either)

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
