My Dyno Numbers!

Got to pick the car up finally and got it dynoed too. Put down 475whp/473tq on a dynapack hub dyno set on SAE. I'm very happy with the numbers considering what I've read is the dynapack dynos read lower then the mustang dynos.

Engine mods are 2.93 billetflow upper, billetflow idler pulley setup, basanni catted x pipe, borla catback, lfp heat exchanger, CAI (not sure what brand, came with the car), custom dyno tune done by Wayne @ Brown Bros Performance in Vancouver, B.C.

As you can see the numbers drop off near the end. I think I may have belt slip because it runs about 12.5 psi then drops off to 10 psi. I didn't think I would have slip with the idler pulley setup but the belt is pretty glazed and cracked up. I will try a new belt otherwise I don't know how to fix it.

Nice numbers... not many guys running the 2.93 but it is a gets you almost what the smaller pulley gets and with less heat. I made about 13.4 lbs of boost with a 2.93 so you may have a bit of slip. I don't have idlers but no slip either.... get a new belt and you should be good to go.

Be prepared for the naysayers that will tell you that you can't make 475 hp with a 2.93...

Enjoy the good tune and the good numbers.

I was very surprised with the numbers. No way did I expect that high. The tuner said it was putting out what it should be though. I think he said 21-22 degrees of timing up top.

Why are the numbers so good? I've read that the Dynapack MD-4000 reads even lower then a mustang dyno.

+1 on A/F and Timing.

Those are pretty high numbers for just a stock eaton, 2.93 upper, intake, and exhaust on a dynapack

Congrats though.

There is nothing wrong with your #'s, I think they look very strong for your mods. IMO, the dyno is a tool to tune a vehicle. A time slip is a much better reflection of power.

Nice #'s.

2.93 FTW! I feel its a very good pulley size for an unported Eaton.

upper pulley cars with exhaust/CAI typically make 420s-430s on a TRUE reading mustang dyno.

I know nothing about dynos but if the dynapack does in deed read lower than a Mustang dyno those may be record #'s. My #'s are from a Mustang dyno but again I put very little in dyno #'s.

haha my time slip sucks!! i ran on nearly bald street tires and it was my first time EVER to run a 1\4 mile track, and i spun 1st-2nd and for some odd reason when i would punch it into 4th at the end of the track i would break the tires loose. so i think once the nitto's come in, i will drop my time down.

Dave, On a mustang dyno I made 429 whp and with no changes to my setup (Steg IV w/2.76) i put down 494 on a dynojet. which is about a 15% difference, if a dynapack read lower than a mustang dyno and you made 475 on it that would put you WELL over 500+ on a dynojet. Which would be highly unlikely out of a upper pulley (2.93) only eaton with no port. Numbers are just numbers, my numbers for my whipple could be considered "low" @ 532 but after going to the track and trapping 130 mph. I'm pretty sure my car is making the power. I would just wait and see what it runs at the track those are the real numbers to be concerned about.

Air Fuels where 11.8 most of the way and timing was around 21. I do understand that dyno numbers don't mean shit and I am just posting up what the numbers were. In further reading though I found that the mustang dyno is the lowest reading one and the dynapack usually reads 8-10% lower the a dynojet.

Are you going to be taking it to the track? It would be interesting to see what the car does there. Nice numbers. Most important determinant, as you know, is track performance. Enjoy that beast! :-)

I will be taking it to the track in May and I have ET Streets for it already. I don't really care what numbers the dyno shows as long as it rips at the track lol

Yeah every dyno is different even when dealing with the same brand. In my experience the hub style dyno's read higher then Dynojets and MD's.

My 2.93 upper, CAI, weld in muffler combo ( when i just got it home ) made 45x and like 448 tq on a Dynojet here in town. And that dyno is notorious around these parts for reading a bit high. My guess is you are right in the 450 whp rage on a roller type dyno. Get that thing to the track and see how she fairs.

First off congrats on the new mods! The first pulley I went with was a 2.90 and it was a ton of fun! Dynapack dynos typically read higher than Dynojets and Mustang Dynos. They are bolted to the hub and take away the parasitic loss of the wheels and tires on a roller. Basically the only dyno you can really compare numbers to numbers is the Dynojet, that's why it's the accepted industry standard. Mustang Dynos and Dyno Dynamics dyno are load bearing and should read lower than Dynojets if loaded correctly, they are better tools for tuning but the numbers won't always be consistant as they rely on the user loading them correctly.

Those are about right, maybe even a bit high, on a properly loaded Mustang Dyno.

The dyno operator said they are SAE numbers, and we are at sea level, and we had good cold dense air. To let them know my car on the same dyno makes 450rwhp and runs 11.20 @ 122mph I would say the dyno is correct. Another car that makes 720rwhp runs 10.29 @ 137 the numbers even jive with ET calculators.

I don't really care what dyno read higher and lower as long as the car performs the way I want it to I'm happy

Plus I just picked the car up this weekend and its awesome!!! lol

What do you mean that on the same dyno your car made 450HP? Did you mean a similar car as yours? Just a little confused as to what you meant here.
