just a couple questions i would like to hear some of your opinions on them or personal experiences with both. whats the pros and cons of them. no matter which one i get i will be getting the quadrant and adjuster and ldc freeplay mod. and is the stock input shaft 10 or 26 spline.
I can't help you with the clutch because I still have the stock one. But when I upgrade, I am consdering the same two you are looking at. The stock input shaft is 10 spline. That I can help you with.

Well I not going to say the RST is better or worst. But I have had it in my car last season. I'm a shitty case though I had problems from day 1, the clutch never adjusted properly and didn't feel quite "perfect". I actually ended up burning it out in one season. But the mcloed techs are second to none. I phone them with my problem, they never gave me any BS about drag racing or anything and I was perfectly honest with them on how i drove the car etc. They offered to rebuild my clutch for free including return shipping and even turning my flywheel. I was more than happy with the solution they provided. Now the clutch is actually at mcloed as I type this. But it is getting upgraded with ceramic discs and 26 spline input shaft. But when the clutch was new and fresh minus all the adjustment BS it was solid and very nice to drive with. Pedal feel was nice and soft, the shifts we very smooth, and it seem like a winner. The last few track days of the season the clutch started doing this (pay attention to the rear of the car at launch) Castrolpass.flv video by terminatortyler04 - Photobucket
So now I'm completely out of the RST all together but still with a mcloed product, if you do plan on doing the RST. Make sure it is install and adjusted properly!! I have a feeling that is why mine only lasted as long as it did.

I recently installed a spec stage 3+ and 26 splin input shaft. There was a lot of chatter during the break in and the first 1000 miles. Im at about 2k miles now and it feels like a stock clutch. Smooth engagement and light pedal feel. You can also option for the alluminum preasure plate and light pedal option. Dont know much about the mcleod but i would go with the spec stage 3+.

When you guys say "light pedal feel" I'm guessing you mean the amount of effort needed to engage the clutch. How much of a difference does the spec 3+ make because this stock one sometimes burns the crap out of my calf in traffic and I'm looking for something that will fix that.

x 1000.
I hated my RST at first. Come to find out that the guy who installed it didn't torque the pressure plate down evenly all the way around and basically only half the clutch was being used and it wasn't disengaging fully. Needless to say that that guy doesn't work at the performance shop I use anymore.(It wasn't a direct result of my car or anything) If you talk with Lee at McLeod he will tell you that the two most common mistakes people make when installing the new McLeod twin disks are they sometimes put the fiction plate on wrong, or they don't have everything torqued down properly. Now that its been install correctly I really like it alot. The only thing I'm going to do now is adjust the firewall adjuster a little to try and get it to disengage sooner in the stroke. You have to be real particular about getting everything installed and adjusted correctly with the McLead twins.
Now TD's are nice clutches when you have everything right, but a Stage 3+ is a nice clutch to thats also cheaper, and easier to install, and your less likely to get something wrong. A TD also has less adjustment.
With thats said the guy who fixed my clutch owns a 04 Cobra and he had a pretty nice motor in it with ported heads, cammed, etc, and he sold it off to build a 324. He ran a Stage 3+ with his old setup and has always recommended them, but after getting mine install correctly he like it so much that he says he's going to run a RXT when he gets his setup all together.

ok cool thanks for all the input, i think i will be going with the spec clutch and i work at a GM dealership in san lorenzo so ill have our tech who deals with trannys and clutches put it in so i know its done correctly
I deal with McLeod for allot of clutches. In my personel opinion they are the best. I have a twin disc in my car and thats all ill ever have. The Spec is a very very good clutch to though. I have installed more of them than the Mcleods mainly because they are cheaper. But the twin disc has twice the surface area for gripping its hard to do that without two discs.
I have the mcleod rst with about 600 miles on it now and I love it so far. Super light pedal effort and shifts like butter. No complaints yet but hopefully it lasts a while because it wasnt cheap.
Spec 3+ here. I like it seems to work good. like other have said there is some chatter but i had a spec 3 in my 94 ( its a 4 puck clutch ) so i didnt think it was that bad.
The spec 3+ grabs hard as hell so if you do any drag racing better get a soft wall tire because there is no Slipping these puppies they are an on and off switch or at least thats how i have found mine. At low RPM they slip fine

11.23@125.5MPH 1.75 60... getting there
Call spec up and they can help you out with what you want exactly. I also would get their flywheel as they balance the clutch and flywheel together. Using a dif flywheel might not be as good. You can also choose to go with an alluminum pp to save weight or their light pedal option which is suppposed to be much easier to on your leg. They even did a price match with the lowest price I could find on other places.
Whats wrong with their tob? I used it but my clutch only has about 2k miles on it now.
I also went the Spec 3+ route and have no complaints. As others have said, the install can make or break it. I used all new parts (including new bolts, pivot and clutch arm). Like others have said, I did NOT use the TOB which came with the clutch. Instead, I used a FRPP HD TOB plus the LDC Freeplay Spring.
My mechanic used to be a BMW tech, then a BMW Service Manager. All of the parts were taken off in a star pattern. All of the bolts got a spot of oil on the threads (he doesn't torque down bolts dry).
Chatter kept decreasing during the break-in period. During those 500 miles, I kept the revs down below 4,000 rpm. After 500 miles, I ripped off a very satisfying 1-2 powershift and nearly went sideways on the x-way on ramp.
Whichever way you go, make sure the install is done correctly. Even the best clutch in the world will feel like crap if it's not installed correctly. IMO.

Cop pulls me for passing on a solid yellow and says he could charge me with 'Careless & Reckless'.
I said, "'Careless' sure because I made that move without checking if you were back there, but 'Reckless' would be if I saw you but made that move anyway."
Laughing, he let me go.
