I know the owner of the Cobra. Matter of fact, I sold him an old KB of mine. I'll get him in here and gladly let him fill you in on the details of that run.
But I'm sure that won't matter. You are pretty set in your opinion.
I am the person in that video, the Z is my Dads. Lets get our facts straight now.
My car had to go to the dealership to have the heads replaced under warranty. So after about 150 miles I took it back to my shop to have the pulley put back on and a break in tune for the motor 10.8:1 air fuel mixture and 16 degrees of timing.
My car at this point has a Mac Cat back, Steeda CAI, and a 2.8 pulley with a break-in tune for the heads, making about 434ish (Dynod about 465 with the midpipe in the garage and the full tune, had to take the pipe off since dealer wouldn't work on a emissions illegal car).
My dad usually drag races his 74 challenger bracket car (as seen on Pass Time on Speed Network last night), but decided we were going to go watch the races since it was too hot to get in that caged tubbed thing. So I load up in my car and him in the stock 02 Z and drive 85 miles or so to bradenton motorsports park.
When we arrived the temperature was approx 105 degrees outside according to the sign at the track. We went straight from the gate into the lanes, and made our run.
Each of us leaving at idle I ran a 13.04 to his 13.07 but he treed me so he actually triggered the win light. We raced 3 times that night and I ran the best ETs all 3 times, but being he has 30 years of racing experience on me (Has won his class 5 times, and almost always places in the top 4) he usually got me out of the hole.
The ETs may seem a good bit slow, but consider the extreme temperatures.
As the night went on I proceeded to drop down to about a 12.70 or so, and figured that was good with no timing and it stayed 100 degrees through the night.
Soon after I got the car retuned with a full tune after I felt the heads were good and sealed up and with my full weight (4100 lbs) Vert. I didn't go back to the track for few months since the weather was just total junk. Finally a day came around that it was about 79 degrees outside. I ran a few times that night with a best of 11.99@119 on a set of borrowed MT drag radials (not ET streets) leaving at around 2500.
Fast for a pullied cobra? No! Fast for a pullied Vert (4000+lbs) in hot humid air, yep.
I would have gladly run your stock C5Z then, and I will gladly run your HCI Z now. You can say this will do this and that on paper all you would like. However I can tell you from experience that as long as it's not a billion degrees outside (big disadvantage for the blower car) the cobra will pull the Z. In the 1/4 at those trap speeds aero means very little.

Oh I see, since you can trap higher mph in your pullied Cobra than your dad's Z that makes all pullied Cobra's faster than C5 Z06's
Two alike cars aren't always going to be exactly the same in performance. You raced your dad from a dig correct? My comparision is from a roll.
Yes aerodyanmics is going to play into effect if you have two moving vehicles reaching 130mph speeds.
After reading and doing plenty of research on the two car's it really does seem to be a drivers race between a pullied Cobra and stock C5 Z06. It really is hard to say one is faster than the other because one car could be running better than the other that day.
If anyone in that area want's to test the two vehicles please feel free to pm me and will make this run happen.

dude aerodynamics isnt going to slow down the cobra till somewhere north of 150. 460rwhp cobras run hard all the way 160, and will put a spanking on a stock or even intake, headerback exhaust, and tuned c5z06.
nobody called BS to OP about his race against a cobra. we are saying just because he beat one doesn't mean stock c5z06 > pullied cobra. I hope you got the point. and BTW: let's talk about aerodynamic, in the video, looks like cobra was next to this dude even untill they shut down, why didn't your aero kicked in and pushed you harder and left the cobra behind? aero works but not the way you guys think. it is not like a nitrous, kicks in hard.

Weve already seen that it wont put a "spanking" on a intake only c5z06. Longtubes/Intake/Tune C5 Z06s are in 39xrwhp range, so thats a different story then.
See this is exactly what I'm talking about. Nice vid by the way.
JD's Z06 had a passenger against that 460rwhp Cobra and STILL beat him (granted he was only slowly pulling on him).
And then you have guys here saying Z06's will get spanked?? Even bolt-on Z06s? I just don't see it happening, if the Z06 driver knows how to drive his car...

And all we were saying was the exact samething.... Just because you beat one stock C5 Z06, doesnt mean you will beat all stock C5 Z06s.... I hope you got that point. The OP even said it was a tight race with him slightly pulling uptop, thats all. He never said it would blow the doors off of the cobra.... No one is saying that at all actually.

well, OP experienced once against pullied cobra and he simply stated c5 z06 > pullied cobra and even told us that if we believe pullied cobra > z06 then we were idiot. go back and read dude read!! with one result, he simply made it z06 > pullied cobra. I have experienced on 2 stock z06s myself with one intake catback and a cammed c5 vette which would be the same level as z06 non "aerodynamics". and I have also seen other cobras raced against stock z06s here in chicago on chicagosvt.com beating stock z06s with their pullied cobras. go check it out, even z06s owners over there will confirm it. I don't come out of the closet and say cobra > z06 just because i beat one. I am throwing more than one scenario.

So if my Z06 had the same body design as a Mustang the outcome would still be the same is that what you're saying? Aerodynamics DOES HELP!!

if you would know anything about racing, you would know that from a roll a lil' passenger DOES NOT effect the race. I have proven that over and over. and when i raced against a z06 i had a passenger whom posted in this thread and confirmed my kill and he is 200+lbs guy. when i raced cammed vette, he had pass. and i didnt and i beat him and he told me, you take the pass. and lets do it again and i told him that it won't effect and i was right, it didn't i still beat him with the same length.
I am not the most knowledgable guy when it comes to racing but at least i know that fact.

dude you must be retarded. (i am serious) i have never mentioned aero doesn't help but you keep jumping here and saying it helps. ok, we all know it helps but not as crazy as you think.

Just to let you know both my car and the Termi had a passenger to make it equal.

You've got to be kidding me.
You just basically said: Adding 200 lbs to one of two closely-matched cars is not going to make the slightest difference.
