Central Texas Photoshoot #2

Ok guys. I am proposing another photoshoot here in Central Texas. It will be Sunday, November 22nd. The meeting time will be at 10 with a cruise to the airfield at 11 or 11:15 to allow for people driving a long distance. I will also be putting this on several different websites with SVTPerformance.com as the hub.

The abandoned airfield in Austin has won the majority with over 15 votes. (We could meet at a local spot and cruise inside.) Linky

Lukasha from Austin Area Stangs has offered to lead the cruise into the airfield as he knows the way best. After the photoshoot we can all cruise to a local food establishment. If you have any suggestions for food put it up and we will all decide on a spot at the photoshoot.

I went with the abandoned airfield. It would give us the space needed for a great unique shoot.

The airfield sounds like a good location.
Any empty hangars or old equiptment laying around for photo background?

IIRC Inks Lake has an entry fee so that might be a no go.
However there is plenty of great driving roads in the area
with a scenic overlook providing a great view of Hoover valley.
Its pretty high up. Good for pics... Good TX BBQ nearby also.

LBJ State Park area is another good site.
Lots of big oaks and some roaming buffalo.
Park rd 1 is a good drive.
LBJ is approx. 20 minutes west of Johnson City.

The only thing I saw in the pics they took the first time was the tower and some of the signs like when you drive into the airport. Here is the link if anyone wants to see what we will be working with.

The only thing that could be a problem with airfield is that it looks like there is not a whole lot of shade.

This was a problem we had at 360 bridge as well.

Is anyone close enough to cruise by the airfield to get a first hand look at what we might have to work with?

You can almost have an autocross event there

The clocks will be set back by then so it will be darker earlier.
A later time would be for beneficial pic lighting but
it being a Sunday that may not work for some.

Would a Saturday (3-4:00PM) work better for the masses?

The morning still works for me if everyone is happy with the way the pictures have turned out so far. Even if its not ideal lighting for pictures at least we get to meet new people and chat with the people we already know.

The airfield got my vote. All the room would be great. I don't know how late you want to have it, just because the traffic will start to get heavier for everyone the later it gets.
