People have been doing this for decades. You give an old school racer 500 to the tires and I bet he goes even faster than 9.94. Not to take anything away from the OP, but even his car has a few tenths left in it. 135mph could drop him to 9.7's, maybe lower.
There is a fox up here running in the 9.7 at 137 mph for two years now on ported eaton only. The car is a track only car, C4, 9 " rear, gutted interior and have aluminum block. It has a 3.1 /8lbs pulley combo
Even still... 135 with less than 500 rwhp is insane. I have the same trans, built by the same people (frank lupo) with 649 rwhp and I only trap 135. My car is at most 100 lbs heavier than his. I have the back seats removed, gutted trunk, bogarts, blah blah blah...
My point exactly. I'm not saying what he is running is impossible. But, this isn't attainable in a timely manner by the one day a month drag racer. Hence, why I said not typical results. Cool as hell, but not typical. I have a car that runs better than this. A turbo 347 notchback. But is not close to as streetable, and ways much less. Also, it puts down much more power. So, basically I am saying that I am a jealous bastard.
Congrats. I've also been following this for a while. I've been holding back asking, but I just can't resist. What is different from your car to my car? I know I have a six speed other than the C4 and not quite the weight reduction. According to the weight you have posted on yours, my car is just 150lbs heavier. Probably mostly the fuel cell, wheels, and seat removal weight difference.
My charger was ported by posi as well, upper and lower. As well as the dragon and exhaust including headers. Mine is also a well built straight axle with tubular k-member. Most of our mods are very similar if not identical besides the obvious that your's is an auto. I have only had mine to the track once and it ran strong, but I don't ever expect to see low 10's out of it, let alone high 9's. Very high 10's might be attainable. I'm not saying mine should be as fast or anything. However, I would like to be able to say that I could get within a half second and 5mph of that.
These results are baffling. I would even like to say that it is driver, but I have been driving well built stick cars for 10 yrs in all different shapes and forms and consider myself fairly good at it. Basically, what I am trying to say is that your passes are awesome and apparently I suck. I have no idea how you are pulling this off, but keep it up.
However, to all of those viewing these posts that are considering building your car like this, DON'T. You will not see these results. This is not typical. I know how these websites work. A couple of ppl will read these posts and think "Why can't I do this?" You can't. This car is a freak of nature. And don't waste any of your time trying to figure out why, either. Most of the time it takes a twin screw to run these times.
This is not to say that posi does subpar work. I am extremely happy with his porting, and all my other mods. I highly recommend him. Plus, my A/C still works. Which it will always. My car is a street car first and track car second. Most of this has been written to be comical. I hope noone takes it too seriously.
Good luck at the Terminator shootout BADASS. I wish I could be there, but I spent all my money on my car. Partially, trying to build something that runs even remotely like yours. Congrats and good luck.
I bet if another Cobra did the same mods as me it would go even faster. my car only made 495/500 on a dynojet. compare that to some of these guys making 520, 530 even 550 rwhp on their eatons. sure every dyno is different and my tuner's dyno seems to read low, but other have make 500, 505, and Ive seen one make 515. thats 20rwhp over my car. thats alot.
I would recommend my setup to anyone thats SERIOUS about drag racing. the C4 alone dropped most of this et...and converter is also a big part of the equation.

Huh? Why be such a downer for everyone else. His results are very achievable and can be repeated again and again if people took the time to setup a car properly for drag racing.
The OP is just the first person to not jump ship to a twin screw/turbo right away and actually put the time/effort to setup his car properly for a drag racing application.

thanks man. I agree...there is another tenth in the car. I think its hidden in the first 330'. that green Nova I raced (my buddy) had a slower 60 and mph but faster et's all day. that tells me he is using his power better than me.
watching my vids, I might try to calm the launch down a tad more and see what happens.

I wouldnt say less than 500...its prob a tad over now. and I dont thnk its crazy at all.

this might surprise you....this is the first car that Ive owned thats gone 12s, 11s, 10s and now 9s. first stick car I ever bought too. Ive done 90% of the work myself by reading books and talking to people on the internet. Im no track guru, I just work hard and try to pay attention to the info I gather.

Congrats again man! I think it's so funny my dad caught the first ever eaten only cobra to go 9's lol. I took him to a drag strip the first time that day, and he catches you going 9's.

thanks again for the vid man! if you notice..my camera cut out when my girl was taping me! it skipped the whole launch! time for a new camera...damn thing
his car is probley lighter than you think. also you cant look at those peak numbers, he makes great hp/TQ throught the powerband where your car is more of a peakey car with that Paxton im guessing.
only 24mph out the back door tells me there is more on the table. maybe the converter is too loose? if you 60'd better the mph would deff go up. 1.4s are good but deff not using all of that 600rwhp to get going

No, that doesn't surprise me. Actually I would have guessed it. Something like this is actually easier to do for someone that is starting fresh. Not concentrating on ideas that worked on other cars. I have wasted a lot of time and money trying ideas on the cobra that have worked on other cars. But they don't always work. Every car is different.
You have definitely put in the work, and deserve the results you are seeing now. I can't believe the auto made that much difference on an eaton car. If it were a turbo I could see it. How much et exactly did it drop. I really hate to ditch my six gear, but I may have to consider it.
My car actually dynoed at about +30 more than yours on hp and tq but you are going through an auto which makes them hard to compare. My car also weighs fairly close. My point was that with the six-speed, I don't intend on seeing anything close to these numbers.
