interesting day today! found out a few things! so since the Shootout got raine dout, the weather turned for the best up here so went to my home track which had an All Ford event today. I changed nothing on the car form last week. It was COLD out. first pass it was 45 degree's with a DA of -800 feet! figured the track wouldnt be there but as usual, my car surprised me. we had a constant 10-15mph headwind AGAIN today and it showed in my mph. I was running a bracket class for the event
1st pass - left lane
.001 light
1.371
6.35@107.52
10.02@133.41
2nd pass - left lane, I tightned the shocks up front as I thought it was still coming up too fast just to see what would happen.
.007 light
1.371
6.33@107.82
9.99@133.95
same 60' but the car felt ALOT better on the launch. now I had to dial the car in for first round.
3rd pass - right lane
dial in - 9.98
-.021 light (RED LIGHT!)
1.373
6.33@107.91 9.98@133.76......CRAP!!!! I got trigger happy
so back at the trailer I swapped on the 2.76 upper pulley to try out. now this is VERY interesting. first pass with it I loaded up my stock 16psi tune because I didnt know where the a/f would be
4th pass - right lane
1.378
6.35@107.66
10.02@132.69
a/f was 11.3-11.4 and timing was 23 degree's. I adjusted the tune accordingly from here to 11.7-11.8 and even upped the timing to 24 degree's just like I did with the 2.93 / 4# combo
5th pass - left lane
1.369
6.33@107.90
9.99@133.32
now even though we had a small headwind, this in my mind confirms that anything over my 2.93/4# boost combo is a waste on MY CAR. i shifted dead on, my 60' was the best one but the car still ran the same number. there was minimal belt slip as I cleaned the hood before the pass and there were a couple specs on it after the pass.
a pretty awesome day for the car though.
60's
1.37
1.37
1.37
1.37
1.36
and ET's
10.02
9.99
9.98
10.02
9.99
ran within .04 all day.....Im amazed.
also...the DA seems to have NO EFFECT on my car. Im thinking with the super low IAT2's the car is just always running at optimal conditions. It always thinks it cold out.
thoughts? comments?

Silver '03 Cobra Coupe Auto - First 9 Sec Eaton Only car!
6.31@108
9.94@135 w/ a 1.36 - NO Nitrous!
old setup
10.01@138 w/ a 1.49 spinning bad (100 shot)
so here is some info on my 2.93 pass vs my 2.76 pass. some of the data is a little off as the car was warmer on the 2.76 pass but does this conclude the 2.76 is just too much for MY car? better 60' but same ET and mph as the 2.93.
run 2 - 9.99@133 w/ 2.93 pulley
1-2 shift - 6000 (woops, early)
2-3 shift - 6315
traps - 6782
spark - 24 degree's
coolant - start 164, end 174
intake air temp - start 56, end 50
downstream temp - start 64, end 90
Manifold pressure - 59.806 max
run 5 - 9.99@133 w/ 2.76 pulley
1-2 shift - 6277
2-3 shift - 6268
traps - 6707
spark - 24 degree's
coolant - start 180, end 190
intake air temp - start 62, end 50
downstream temp - start 76, end 110
Manifold pressure - 61.09 max
so the car was a tad warmer on the last pass but the downstreams went up 34 degree's compared to 26 degree's. and the pressure was up, Im just sure on the correction factor to find boost.
I was there with him and I gotta say that that car is dead nuts spot on consistent. His car 60's awesome. There was an 07 9.0 GT 500 there that I ran in my class and his 60's were all higher with the exception of 1 1.37. That car traps at 150. Shows us that jake has put alot of work into setting up his suspension and it pays off!

Posi Ported Eaton pushed this car into the 9's with no Nitrous! Current 1/4 mile Record Holder with a 9.94 @ 135mph and only Eaton in the 9's without Nitrous! Ever. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...only-baby.html
congrats dude. Followed alot of your quests for a while. Glad to see someone making the most of the power they have. THat is insane!

Awesome Jake! With your consistency and awesome lights you're cutting, you will have a fun race season. Do you think the c4 has helped with the improvement in rt?

big time. I think going from a 2.84 first gear to the 2.47 first gear took just the right amount of gear out of the car. it hooks and books. the 4r70w and 4.10s was too much gear. I was actually nervous about losing so much before.
I would almost bet even a 3.73 in the car wouldnt slow me down too much.

I know I could deal with less gear in 1st, especially on radials. When my clutch comes in(hopefully next week) I'll be trying some 325 drag radials. I hope I can make them work.

Im going to try some drag radials next year as well in DOT tire classes.

They should work very well on your car being an auto. They seem to be much easier on the launch than stick cars do. You may even find that it's just as fast if not faster. Some guys around here swear by them on auto cars. I just want to get mine where I can drive in to the track, run 9.50's/9.60's and drive home with the ac and stereo blastin. I may end up switching back to a bias ply dot tire though. We'll see.

Jake, Bob V. agrees with you that the 2.93/4# is the best combo
as he also tried the 2.76/4# and found it just caused more heat,
and he advised me not to try it out. Ken
