1st time at the track on et streets = 11.4

ok so i didnt really know what i was doing and was a lil worried about breaking something even though everything is built. So i launched at 3500 and it felt as though it was spinning but not very much. tire pressure was at 13 lbs and i think i was not doing a good enough burnout. very light the track was a shitty out in the boonies track in temple texas. anyhow here are the numbers.

1/4 mile = 11.4
60 ft. = 1.81
mph = 127 ran thru in 4th dont know rpm but it has 410's with m/t 28x10.5x15

please give me some advice i know this car has 10's in it but i think it is driver error mostly. plus inexperience.

hey I was out there last night. saw some of your runs, did not get a chance to talk to you as I was helping a freind with a stock gt make some runs with my slicks.

Anyways, I think on some of your runs you let out before the end of the track, its very hard to tell the end at TAD. Track prep was not the best ever but it was decent. Try to line up behind another slick car if u can instead of a fwd street car.

The gut with th 408 gto was running 11.3 with 17" hoosier drag radialswith a 1.60, I know its a stalled auto, but you can hook out there.

post up whole slip.

what were you shifting at, launching rpm, slipping clutch etc..

street tune/psi?

also noticed that your blower whine was really quite

Thats a good time for your first time

You need to get that 60foot down and your ET will drop alot.
If i were you i would change gears, in my opinion 3.55 or 3.73 are enough since youre banging gears way too fast, i dont think cobras like 4.10s.

Good luck and nice times!!

You need to take advantge of the ET Streets a little more. Were you slipping the clutch or doing a semi-dump? And raising that RPM to 5,000 or so willl help.

yah i did let out till the last two when i finally realized there are little red boxes at the end in the dark, i couldnt hardly tell where the end was at! i was shifting at 6800 rpm launching rpm was 3500 and dropping the clutch. also was on street tune at 20-21 psi. i really think most of it was i am new to this and wasnt doing good burnouts and have not figured out the launching rpm and probably the tire pressure too. i did do one real good burnout and when i launched at 3500 the car bogged bad but it hit so hard initially i thought the wheels were going to come up maybe my foot slipped off the gas too cuz it surprised the shit out of me when it did hook hard the one time.

what psi did you have in the slicks?

Like i said it takes some practice to get the times you want.

My old 94gt went from a 13.7-13.0 with just practice.

Just try different launch rpm etc.. and watch your 60 fts and write down wut u did on each run for reference, like launch rpm, tire press etc..

no dought your car will run 10's

That track is no SAR.

But you can get 1.5 60 fts with practice.

This year I was running the same times with around the same 60". I finally got in the 10's on my last track day I went too. I was trying to launch the car hard at 4500-5000 rpms but i was not hooking at all. So I tried a 3500 rpm dump and hard on the gas. Cut a 1.67 60' and ran a 10.98 @ 127. If you get your 60' in the 1.6x range 10's will be easy. I would start at 3500 and increase the RPM's a bit every pass until you get a good hook.

here is my run for reference. Around 3500 rpms and 14 psi in my ET streets.

also you don't need much of a burnout with the ET's. the longer the burnout the less traction i got and another thing I did after some advice from a few guys on here was to stay out of the water box.

get that 60 down like someone else said. why is your car down on power? on 19#s with a 2.8 you should be well above 600hp. my 2.2 on 18#s made the same power and more tq. it takes a lot of practice to get the feel for the car. and if u have a fully built solid you should be dumpin the clutch at 5k and haulin.

my car is very conservatively tuned. i think it only has 15 degrees of timing max on street tune and 17 degrees on race tune, which every tuner i have spoken to after the car was tuned has pretty much stated thats weak timing and they would run 21 degrees but my car has lasted for 40,000 miles at 600 plus hp levels so i am not complaining too much.

Get a line lock setup if you dont have it. Its a must for a proper burnout imo. Milk them good for about 8-10 seconds. Launch at 5000-6000 rpm depending on track conditons. If the track is prepped right those ets will hold whatever you can throw at them.

Ive launched many times at 6K+ with BFG DR's.
