I suppose this would count as a customer car, It's my dads and I sell him parts for the Expedition tow rig. Plus I've done nearly every job that can be done on this car.
1961 Austin Healey 3000, As you can see by the tech stickers it sees a lot of track time.
His best time is a 2.51 at RA but he tries to avoid scaring himself so I'm sure theres a little more in it.
Just watched the videos, Awesome footage. The "R" sounds phenomenal!!
BTW-only little girls lift for the kink
Yeah, the R is pretty loud! I can barely hear my passengers screaming bloody murder!
Ha ha!!! I'd post the pics of the wrecks I've seen from people thinking they could drive like Mario Andretti and "The Kink" ate them for lunch, but SVTP doesn't have enough bandwidth for all of the pics! Call me chicken, but I've been through "The Kink" at least 1,500 times and never had a single wheel off of the track, anywhere! That may sound boring, but I can assure you, lapping RA at 2:29 is FAR from boring!

Nice Austin! I'll bet he doesn't have to lift for "The Kink"?
Thanks again for the great prices and service on all of them go fast parts! Somebody has to be out there showing the Corvette guys what the ass end of a Mustang looks like!!!

Believe me, I know 2.29 is fast and I would NEVER fault anyone for lifting through the kink. It's a very scary place.
My dad actually does lift a bit through there, Keep in mind he's driving a car designed 50 years ago and it's running a leaf spring rear and lever action shocks.
It's got upgraded brakes but even those are 1960's Jaguar bits.
It's still a 3.0 six running three SU carbs but it's putting down around 230 hp in a car that barely weighs 2000 lbs, It's fun to drive.
It's also still running an original type four speed with electric overdrive, many vintage racing Healeys are running Toyota or BMW trannys these days.
Thanks again for the pics and video and if you ever make it to the July vintage races just look for the Healey and the 6'6" guy hanging around it, That'll be me
The old man's still got some 'stones' if he's lapping 2:51's in that thing!!!
He just turned 63 and he makes me nervous coming into turn five, he knows his car though. He's been racing big Healeys for going on 30 years and his current car for about 10 years.
The really amazing thing is his car is a midpack car in a group of current race Healeys, A friend of his runs consistently in the 2.45 range in another big Healey.
