Supply is Running Out | Go Buy a New Fiesta ST Now!!!

I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret. The Ford Fiesta ST is dollar for dollar one of the most fun new cars you can buy today. However, that isn’t going to be true for much longer. The sad fact is that in a few short weeks the supply for brand new Fiesta STs on dealer lots in the US will be gone. According to SVTP Member @13COBRA, as of 11/12/19 there are only 195 new ones out there. In Ford’s infinite wisdom they have made the decision that the Stateside crowd will not be getting the updated 2020 Fiesta ST model with its heavily revamped interior. So if you want a new one, time is running out and here is why you should care.

“Life is too short to drive a car that sucks.” That simple maxim is just a fact. So why would you waste your time in something mundane when you...

2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang - 10.61@133 MPH - Press Drive Articles/Vids

Today is going to be a pretty busy one for those with a huger for 2020 GT500 news. Last week Ford held its first official Press Drive for it's latest Snake Car in Las Vegas. Those in attendance were sworn to secrecy until today. In this thread we're going to try to aggregate all the best articles and videos in one place for you to enjoy:

Killing Time with an Unlikely Race | GT350 Vs. EcoBoost | Torque Matters

Torque and acceleration, to me those are the sensations that define what a fun street car is. Sure, there are other things at work as well. However, there's not much a car can do to put a bigger smile on your face than slam you back in your seat from light to light. That's not to say that a tight suspension and the ability to out corner an F-16 aren't impressive. It's just that on a day to day basis, you're more likely to get the opportunity to lean a bit on the skinny pedal than peg the lateral G meter. That's why I believe the Shelby GT350 Mustang from Ford Performance leaves a little to be desired as fun street car. There's no denying it's supreme ability on a road course, but on the street it's not that much more exciting than a Performance...

Watch Out - It Can Get Away From You

High-Horsepower Mustang and inexperienced drivers seem like a match made in the salvage yard. At least that seems to be where to pair often winds up. You know the story; someone buys more car than they can handle, they decide to put on a show, and destruction ensues. I first noticed the phenomenon becoming more common when the 2007 SVT GT500 Mustangs started hitting the lots.

Those cars tended to bring a less performance experienced buyer into the showroom than the previous generation Terminator Cobras. In fact, one of the first GT500s that I remember seeing on the street nearly ended up in the wall at the Myrtle Beach Speedway during Mustang Week over a decade ago.

#PITS 2019 | Three Years Strong and Growing

It's hard to believe it's been three years; but #PITS 2019 has come and gone, and now the Third Annual Ponies in the Smokies (#PITS) Show is in the record books. #PITS is easily one of the fastest growing Ford Centric events around, and if you take a look at the bones of the meet it's easy to see why. #PITS is a professionally ran event, held in a beautiful resort location during an affordable time of the year, and is supported by some of the best vendors in the industry.

As with most large automotive gatherings such as #PITS, my favorite part is getting to hang out with friends I don't get to see that often. Discussions abound concerning the highlights of the show field. Everyone I spoke with was pleased by the quality of the builds on display. Two in particular stood out to me. First was Ben...

SVTP's "Man on the Ground" Perspective of NMRA Bradenton 2019

Let me guess, if you're on the East Coast and live anywhere north of Georgia you're sick of winter at this point. I know I'm ready for it to warm up a bit. Luckily, the weather in Bradenton, FL was fantastic for the Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout last weekend. That race is always a welcome break from the chilly boredom of winter, and an opportunity to hang out with friends you haven't seen for a few months.

That's what always sticks in my mind about any NMRA race, the since of camaraderie. You'll see guys locked in a battle to climb through the standings offering help to their competitors to keep running. I personally saw a racer loan a fuel pump to a another racer he was going to have to face in the next round. Shit like that helps restore your faith in humanity...

Video | SVTP Tours Livernois Motorsports

It's no secret that I've long been a fan of Livernois Motorsports in Deaborn, MI. Dan and the guys run one of the most complete and capable shops in the domestic performance industry. As you'll see in the video below, with the exception of body work Livernois can pretty much do it all. Not only do they turn wrenches and tune, they also develop and manufacture some unique high performance parts. If you're looking for some 3V Cam Phaser Lock-Outs[/URL] or a Coyote Cam Timing Control Kit, Livernois is the place to go.

So when the Livernois crew invited me over to give you guys an inside look at their facilities I couldn't RSVP quick enough. I mean, where else are you going to find a shop with 4 Chassis Dynos and that also develops its own tuning software? In fact, we happened to catch Dan testing out a new...

20 Years Later - This 2000 SVT Cobra R is Still Highly Desirable - And Available

I may be telling my age a bit here. but the first Mustang I really remember lusting for was the 2000 SVT Cobra R. I spent countless hours pour over the pages of Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. just to absorb every tidbit of information possible about the beastliest of all Modern Mustangs. Friends and family just didn't understand. How could a Mustang with no radio or air conditioning cost over $50,000? We all now know the answer to that.

No Replacement for Displacement | Is it Time for a 5.7L Tall-Deck Coyote???

Let’s face it, the 5.0 Coyote V8 has introduced an era of Ford Pony Car dominance the likes of which we’ve never really seen. The Terminator absolutely crushed the competition in its day, but that was a time where Mustang was really the only active pony car offering. Coyote has had challengers from both Mopar and Chevy during its three (so far) generation run. In the GT class the competition doesn’t really touch if, and when you start adding mods the dominance is even more apparent...

Coyote Swapped 03 Cobra Update

Been away from the forums for a while, figured I would post a brief update. Last I was on here my car was a TVS 4R70W car. In the fall of 2015 I began transitioning the car over to more of a track car. My goals were 7 second quarter mile times, 4 second 1/8 mile times, 180+ mph, and 1.1X 60' times, all while still being able to drive the car on the street. Anyone that knows me knows that I am extremely OCD, especially when it comes to working on cars. I wanted the car to be able to drive the car to the local car cruise in, win a car show, and bust off a 7 second pass. So I set out to build the car I dreamed of...

Behind the Scenes: The Dealership Finance Department

Every dealership has a finance department; some are made up of a single individual, while others have a director or directors with several producers under each. Have you ever wondered why you are more or less herded to their office even if you are stroking a check for your newer vehicle?

Dealerships contain multiply profit centers under one roof that operate together (for the most part), like most businesses. The finance department is just one of the many departments within the dealership that is in place to turn a profit and streamline the customer experience...

SVTP's Coverage of #PITS 2017

What a way to kick of the show season! After the seemingly unending crappy weather of winter we are greeted by sunshine and pleasant temperatures in Eastern Tennessee’s beautiful Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Sevierville, TN was the chosen location for the first annual Ponies in the Smokies (PITS) show, and that was an excellent choice. Long known as a vacation destination, the Sevierville/Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge area is also an automotive gathering Meca; and the host of several major shows each year.

The PITS organizers developed the event around the area’s strong outlaw and bootlegger history. Over the past few years the area has embraced its moonshining legacy and has permitted the construction of several legal moonshine distilleries. Picking up on that theme the PITS crew created the Shine Run, a...

1965 vs. 2015 Mustang Museum Display

It’s hard to imagine, but many of the original Mustang features were not patented until well after the car was in production. These days the modern Mustang is a rolling piece of intellectual property and that sort of innovation is what’s being celebrated at the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum by a unique fusion of a classic 1965 Mustang and a modern 2015 Mustang.

This unique, conjoined Mustang—built by the clever craftsmen at Classic Design Concepts—is now on permanent display as part of the Intellectual Property Power Exhibit within the National Inventors Hall of Fame museum. This museum is located on the United States Patent and Trademark Office campus in Alexandria, Virginia...
