The Miracle of Modern Tuning – What EFI Tuning has Done for the Aftermarket Industry

Have you ever had the chance to look at a vintage Go-Fast Parts catalog from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, etc? The big ticket items tended to be cylinder heads, cams, and intakes. That’s where you were going to find your biggest gains on most engines of the era. However, when it comes to modern performance engines aftermarket major hard parts are nearly nonexistent. While there are about 65,000 different aftermarket cylinder heads for a small-block Chevy, there’s only one for Ford Modular engines. And that one choice is for a 2V. Non-Factory Modular intake manifold options can be counted on a couple of hands, but there is a decent selection of off-the-shelf and custom-grind camshafts. What the modern gear head has that our...

Victory Lap | SVTP Tool-Tech | Various Bottle Openers

This is the end of our first series of SVTP Tool-Tech Articles/Videos, and like the end of (and oftentimes during) any good job you’re going to need a tasty beverage. If you’re like me, your drink selection is often contained in a frosty bottle and you’re going to need a way to get in. True; it would be simple enough to grab a pair of pliers, or more manly to use a Titanium Fixed Blade Knife (more on that later), but nothing quite as satisfying as successfully employing the correct tool for the job.

Rumor of the Moment | All-New "Mustang Week" at Daytona Beach, FL | July 15th-20th 2019

SVTP was privy to a little insider information about a new Ford-Centered event preparing to break cover next year. It will be titled Mustangs At Dayton, and is set to take place July 15th to 20th, 2019. If those dates sound familiar it's likely because Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach used to be held around that week before moving the event to September in 2017.

FoMoCo Game Changer | The 2019 Lincoln Aviator Platform

Many may not realize this, but with the introduction of the 2019 Lincoln Aviator at the 2018 New York International Auto Show we are getting our first look at an all-new platform from FoMoCo. At first glance this news might not seem like much to be concerned with. However, if you’re a fan of performance you might want to take note. “Why,” you may ask? Well it’s really quite simple. The Aviator’s underpinnings represent the first time Ford has designed and produced a RWD Uni-Body SUV chassis in the US.

Air Evacuation | SVTP Tool-Tech | UView - Airlift Cooling System Rad-Vac

This is one tool that I never thought would get as much use as it does. I’m constantly surprised how often I find myself reaching into my tool box for my UView - Airlift Cooling System Rad-Vac. Basically anytime you break into the cooling system on your vehicle you should be pulling a vacuum on system to make sure it’s properly filled and that there are no leaks. That goes air-to-water intercooled supercharger systems too...

Big Bore Details | Ford's Godzilla (7X) V8 Engine | Plus a New Name

In our previous Ford 7X Engine Article we mentioned that we have a bit more insider information to share. While this some of this info is single source, I have been able to confirm a good deal of it as completely accurate. I am 100% certain that the engine is a 2-Valve Pushrod V8 with Aluminum Cylinder Heads. They will carry on with the Ford tradition of being clamped to the block with 4 Bolts around each cylinder. It is going to be direct injected, and it will be built at Ford’s Windsor, ON Canada Engine Plant...

Monsters Among Us - More Details Emerge on Ford's New Godzilla (7X) V8 Engine

Fresh on the heels of the last article blowing the lid on Ford's upcoming 7.3L OHV V8, we have even more details. Some of the specs I'm about to go into have been confirmed by multiple sources, and a few are single source. More interestingly, I have gotten a look at the actual cylinder heads. Let me start out by saying, based on the heads alone this engine has the potential to be special.

First off, the valves and ports all look enormous. I have been told, but cannot confirm, that that the intake valves measure out at 2.20-Inches in diameter. If that is the case that would mean...

Injected Engineering Builds a 'High-Voltage' Whippled F-150

It has been the better part of 15 years since Ford last gave us an SVT Lightning, and that Gen 2 design is poised to turn twenty years old later this year. Not wanting to build on a platform that is nearly old enough to buy a beer; Injected Engineering customer Stan Cumens decided to start with something a bit newer. In this case, a 2017 Ford F-150 5.0 4X4 was selected as the base for a thoroughly modern Hi-Po Street Truck build...

Begone Demon Clamp | SVTP Tool-Tech | Hose Clamp Pliers

If there is one automotive component that has led to more frustration than should ever be tolerated, it has to be the spring loaded hose clamp. There have been times when one of those things was the bane of my existence. If they aren't flying off to parts unknown, then they're located in an area where a contortionist couldn't get a pair of pliers on them. There was one on the secondary radiator of a 2011 Ford F-250 with the 6.7L Powerstroke diesel that left my hands looking like I had been bare-knuckle boxing a cheese grater. Thankfully, there's a better way.

UPDATE :: Return of the Pushrod | Ford's New 7.3L Engine is Actually an OHV V8

I'm not sure how to even begin this. Recently I posted what I thought was a well thought-out speculation on what exactly this new 7.3L Gas Engine from Ford could be. To me, the most logical this was an update of the venerable 6.8L V10 for the HD Truck, Commercial, and Motorhome markets. After a lengthy discussion with a behind the scenes source it would appear that I was wrong. Very WRONG.

According to my sources on the inside the new 7.3L is actually the first in a new series of V8 engines that will feature pushrod valve actuation instead of the OHC configuration we've become accustomed to...

The Inside Scoop on Ford's New 7.3L Gas Burner

How is that for a click-baity title? For the past few months we've been treated to a plethora of wild speculation on future product releases from Ford. There are certain websites out there who build an audience on posting what amounts to fan-fiction headed by a click-bait title and passing it off as fact. We've had the discussion on that level of journalism here before, and you can find my feelings on it pretty easily. That brings me to today’s topic, Ford’s supposed new Big-Cube Gasser as discussed in this thread on SVTP:

All this speculation...

Let Me Get a Look in There | SVTP Tool-Tech | USB Borescope Camera

Ever wonder if you’ve had some detonation in your engine, and possibly some damage to the pistons? If you could buy yourself some peace-of-mind for $20 would you do it? Well I did. One late night after a few bourbons I was doing a little online shopping, which is always a good idea, and I ran across this super cheap bore-scope camera. While I didn’t have an immediate need for it the features, low price, and my lowered inhibitions all conspired to get it to my door with 2-Day Prime shipping.

FatFab GT/GT350 Twin Turbo Development

Hey guys!!

We have been working on our final production twin turbo kit and I wanted to share some progress. The kit will have a few changes from the custom kits we have been doing. These are the parts that will be used in our 800R, 1000R and 1200R turbo packages.

We now have custom mandrel bent header tubes that we fit up and weld in house using our 304 Stainless Steel billet collector. Billet collectors add a ton of strength and durability. All the runners are heavy wall 304 stainless to withstand the abuse of a high horsepower turbo setup...

A Little Snip-Snip | SVTP Tool-Tech | Lisle Hose Cutters

[/CENTER]

If you work on vehicles long enough you're going to have occasion to trim a few hoses. Be it a supercharger install or running a vacuum line for a boost gauge it's going to happen sooner or later. And one of the things you're going to struggle with is making a clean cut, especially with a knife or razor blade. That difficulty also increases as hose diameter increases. Luckily, there's a better way.

What's in There? | SVTP Tool-Tech | Longacre Oil Filter Cutter

The mystery of the hidden, it always seems to spark a bit of curiosity in my mind. Oil filters are one of those topics that car guys love to argue over. I'd say it ranks right up there with the classic Ford Vs. Chevy and the ever-popular 'Which brand of oil?'. However, it's typically not a great idea to judge a book or oil filter by its cover, so to get a good idea of which one to buy you really want to see what's going on inside the can. That's where the Longacre Oil Filter Cutter tool comes into play...

Getting Out of a Tight Spot | SVTP Tool-Tech | Lisle Exhaust Hanger Removal Pliers

It's a formula as old as hot-rodding. Swapping in a aftermarket exhaust system is one of the holy trinity of mods (Intake, Tune, and Exhaust). Whether you do it for more power or better sound, chances are a new exhaust system is pretty high on your list of first-round modifications. Further; since this is SVTP, there's a pretty good chance that you'll be tackling the install yourself.

If you're anything like me you've spent many-a-Saturday laying out in the driveway fighting with a ridiculously tight rubber exhaust hanger support. Have you ever really taken a close look at those components? They're designed to be easy to put together, and that's about it. The Ford engineers designing the thing didn't really care to...
