I decided I would make a thread on my 2.3 Whipple swap.

I originally was just going to do an Eaton Swap like a lot of guys do out there, however I came across a killer deal on a Company that had a full Eaton setup and was willing me make me a deal I couldn’t resist on a Gen 1 2.3 whipple. So I debated it a few days then I decided to pull the Trigger.

Back story on the car
D.S.S 10:1 forged aluminum Short block and Arp head studs good for around 1000 Crank hp.

Here is how the engine is before I started tear down :

I was able to make a deal where we would trade all my Factory take off stuff for the setup In exchange for credit on the swap. So I had to tear the car down before I could meet him. I then pulled everything off and bagged and tagged every single bolt I tore off.

Once the parts were taken off I was able to drive a few hours and meet him to make the trade! I was very excited! I’ve done business with him before so I knew I was getting good quality parts and no junk.

Got all the stuff and the blower needs some paint it’s not the prettiest!

Next I decided to paint my valve covers and that was a total pain to do so. Had to remove my hydroboost to slide the drivers side cover out!

After that was out I decided to do some cleaning and painting on my timing Cover.

After that I went ahead with my engine block modifications. I had to grind off my knock sensors and cut off a few tabs on my cylinder heads that weren’t allowing my 03-04 Lower intake to seat properly apparently not all have this issue:

After I cut the tabs I was able to mount the Blower onto the Car along with the Lower intake slide right in! I did run into an issue with the PCV fitting on the bottom on the intake manifold hitting on the engine block. So I just went to Menards and picked up a Shorter 90 degree bend and it fit no issues!

Another Few things I ran into during the swap was My Stock P/S Pump Pulley was way to big:

Also ran into my cobra having the Long Style Water pump, I had to order a Short Water pump. I went with a new Gates Water pump.

So after I got the Water pump Stuff taken care off I ahead with more assembly. My 99 Did not have holes cut out for the Heat Exchanger so I i just went ahead and welded the brackets onto the front bumper support. I was able to pickup an AFCO Heat Exchanger with swap.

I got the intercooler pump and lines all ran and stuck some wires up through intake area to wire in the Intercooler pump. Next was Front bumper assembly. I had to fix some tabs on my bumper on the drivers side I used (3) 3/16 Rivets to attach the bracket back onto the bumper:

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this community and need to get some information and pointed in the right direction. I apologize if I am off subject. I recently purchased a 1999 Mustang Cobra from an older guy who kept it all stock. The car has 113,000 on it and in great shape. I have been reading over the last three weeks that 1999 had issues with horsepower due to flash in the manifold and restrictive exhaust. I contacted Ford and verified they did perform the needed upgrades when they made the recall. My question is, after the Ford recall and the Cobra getting a new manifold, what is the real horsepower rating for this year? Is it safe to say this viechle is at 270-280 stock? Next question is what direction should I go in making this car still a daily driver but giving it a safe amount of upgrades that it will not effect my engine? I want to install a new JLT intake, BBK Off road "X" Pipe, Flowmaster catback, 3.73 rear end gears & Tuner. Thoughts...??

Make your own post about it instead of commenting on someone else's and I'm sure someone would be glad to help you out.
