DEARBORN, Mich., March 29, 2018 – Like the 1968 hit movie “Bullitt,” Ford dealerships across America are bracing for a late summer blockbuster as orders have officially begun for the limited-edition 480-horsepower 2019 Mustang Bullitt.

The iconic 2019 Mustang Bullitt traces its roots to the legendary Highland Green 1968 Mustang GT fastback Steve McQueen thrashed in the action thriller “Bullitt” 50 years ago. Complete with classic cue ball shifter, the 2019 Bullitt bundles the latest Mustang GT Premium and Performance Package content in a sleek, understated design – while packing a hefty punch.

The new Mustang Bullitt delivers even more power, thanks to its performance open air intake, Mustang Shelby GT350 intake manifold, plus a larger 87-millimeter throttle body and unique powertrain control module calibrations delivering 480 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque* and deliver a top speed of 163 mph – an 8 mph increase versus the latest Mustang GT. A fully active black NitroPlate™ quad-tip exhaust comes standard.

Bullitt customers have two color choices – Shadow Black and classic Dark Highland Green. Appointments include subtle chrome accents for the unique black grille and front windows, classic torque-thrust 19-inch aluminum wheels and red-painted Brembo™ brakes.

There’s minimal badging inside and out. All that’s visible on the exterior is the circular faux gas cap Bullitt logo at the rear center. A leather-trimmed interior features unique accent stitching in green on the dashboard, door panels, center console and seats.

“The new Bullitt will be every bit as cool and charismatic as the original ’68 Mustang,” said Corey Holter, Ford car group marketing manager. “Since its introduction earlier this year, Ford dealers have been fielding calls from customers wanting to know when they can order this unique piece of automotive history.”

New mustangs are WAY too expensive.

I will say the s550 platform, available tech, and the dual fuel Coyote are all special!

Costs money to be in front I guess.

You need rear seats?

I say Charger cause a 707hp sedan is ludicrous.

Crazy to see a GT level mustang at 480hp.
Good times are afoot for performance
Gone are the days of the 260 2Vs and 300hp 3Vs.
I'm quite fond of my 2V. I forgive it for being slow, and I do my best to ignore the various rattles the plastic interior provides.

Yeah, I didn't think so. I'm a manual fan and figured Ford would only offer this in a manual given the car's history. It certainly makes sense. I think it's awesome Ford is doing that with these cars.

Begs the question if the GT500's coming out can be had with an auto. I'm thinking Ford will add an auto option to those.

When I first saw the leaked Bullitt window sticker months ago over 50k I thought it was really high and maybe made up. I have seen a few '18 Mustangs with stickers over 50k then it made sense. I have not looked at how much every option is but that is 10k in options.

I wonder how many people are looking at getting a new Mustang and decide not to after added a few options and get sticker shock

Base price for a 0 options manual is now $35,995.

These cars climb to $50k pretty quick.

Good news is they can be had for several thousand under MSRP assuming you aren’t buying a special or limited car like a Bullet or Shelby car.

Dam thats faster and lighter then my buddys E55 at 469 hp and that thing moves! They really need to do somthn with them cheesy rims tho That just kills it for me.

Agree. But then, Ford typically has the worst factory wheel designs of all the domestic OEMs, so I'm not surprised.

Makes an 07-10 GT500 look like the deal of the century.
Once the bmw lease is up looking to swap into a new mustang. The mercedes AMG models are catching my eye. Beleive it or not, a cts v is attractive. Would love Lincoln continental to have 600ish hp. I am leaning more to quiet interiors and smooth rides that can flip to road handling monsters. All part of my OGS kicking in.

I like it. It’s priced about where I thought it would be. It’s priced about twice what I paid for my 2001 Bullitt eighteen model years ago. That makes sense. But its priced more than $20k over what I paid for my 13 301A Brembo/Recaro/A6. And for that reason I can’t justify it.
