ac427cobra and/or anyone in Atlanta. I'm looking for a shop/dealership that can install the IRS cradle bushings (ac427cobra set). Must be a shop that has done these bushing before as i don't want them learning on mine. any help appreciated, thxs, mrb

mrb:

You're going to have to search your area for a performance shop that specializes in Fords. My recommendation would be:

Doug Lewis - SHO Specialist

Ford Performance Specialists

8810 Bright Star Road;

Douglasville, GA 30134-1430;

Phone: (770) 949-7191;

Fax: (770) 577-9310;

I have personal experience with Doug's shop. They put a rod shifter in my SHO. Excellent work and reasonable shop rate.

Your best bet is to do it yourself with the help of a few friends. But if that isn't an option, then I highly recommend Doug.

Greetings All:

A couple of weeks ago I had a friend come down from Canada before a track event and we swapped out his IRS center section at my shop because he needed a taller gear for Road America.

When we got the center chunk out of the IRS I noticed the rear diff support looked a little droopy? So I said why don't we put a Delrin unit in it's place? He agreed.

In case anyone is interested what these O.E.M. support bushings look like after a little abuse, here's a peek at one:

Figured some of you might like to see this?

The MIB, "maninbrown" showed up this morning right on time. Checked out the bushings, top quality. Headed to the shop to get this back together.
Thanks Bruce for the fast ship. Let you know how it turns out.

Any body installed the cradle bushings? Should the flange be on the inside or or outside of the arms? Doesn't look like it's going to fit. Need a little help on this one
thanks Greg
Well here is the deal, I had the bushings installed and irs ready to go. No way tried every possible way, sent Bruce an email with a couple of pictures, over size, sorry about that Bruce. Left for work, third shift, wondering where things went wrong, bushings installed wrong , case of the dumb-ass, etc. I left my cell # with Bruce in the email and on the way into work got the call found out the problem, irs is in today. If any body is doing swap into a GT or other MM sub frames will cause a little interference. Thanks to Bruce for the quick response, some other vendors should take a lesson, PROTREE, on customer service. If want a quality product with excellent technical support look no farther than AC427COBRA. Quality stuff. Thanks Bruce for the help.

After the irs was installed the whole procedure was pretty cut and dry, well maybe a couple of beers. Just remember everything takes time. This is not a one man operation, although I did, I don't think I would do it again. The MM sub frames need to cut for clearance. not much but enough that it will need a little welding to maintain the integrity of the sub frame to frame attachment. Use your own judgement. I wouldn't bother going back to MM, although there products are top of the line they will not recommend any mods to there product. I will get the car on the lift for some pictures if any one is interested.

Greg:

Glad you got it back together. :) We'd like to hear your driving impressions with the new hot set-up!! :poke:

Greg is the second person that has run into a slight interference problem regarding MM FLSFC's. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is but apparently a little grinding gets you enough clearance to get the subframe past it? If you could post some pics Greg we'd all be served.

I have some news about the bushing set we're selling. We have upgraded the upper control arm bushings to the newest revision. These have a larger, 15/16" inner sleeve as opposed to the previous set that had only a 7/8" sleeve. This will give a greater area for wear. The brand "N" bushings only had a 3/4" upper inner sleeve and I did not get good life out of that small diameter. That is why it has been increased in size twice now. Now the inner metal sleeves in the upper control arms also get removed just like the lowers. Here's a photo of the new hot color ;-) upper control arm bushings installed in the arm:

Too bad you can't see these beauties once they are on the car! :-D

I know it's coming into the mod season now and the sets have been moving pretty good of late. Right now I'm completely out of the lower control arm sets but they are on order and I hope to see them early to mid November. I have plenty of the other components so if you're looking for subframe kits or diff mount kits I've got them in stock!

:) First of all let it be known Bruce is best on response time and he definitely knows his product. As soon as I get a chance I will get some pictures up, downsized this time, LOL. As far as only cradle bushings go, major improvement. Next will be the full upper/lower control arms,winter project.
Slight noise transfer, my GSD3s make more noise though.
Thanks for your help Bruce

So the only things to complete this would be an IRS diff. cover brace, level 5 halfshafts, and subframe connectors? Maybe some drag radials? TIA....

Bruce, would there be any advantage to using 9/16ths Bolts, as opposed to the 14 mm? I know I saw a thread about using a 9/16ths bolt in the Terminator Suspension forum. I wanted to get your take on that. I will likely be purchasing a complete kit from you in the near future :) here is the thread I am referring to: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=331799&highlight=9/16+bolt My goal is to do the Red Pill, but use your parts in place of the MM parts: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231900&highlight=red+pill
