The thread of the same title lead to more contemplation regarding the fate of my MG 17. As I posted in the other thread, I just want a little more power (especially low end grunt). With that said, can a trinity motor be put into the 350 (without upsetting the balance too much). I did use the search feature already. I do like the handling/ride characteristics but the power is meh. The allure of 8250rpm is awesome, but it really is a track use car. Beyond 7500rpm on public roads is "step out of the car material, license and registration please". With my gt500 you could get a adrenaline rush at almost any rpm. A quick throttle punch from light to light was fun but not jail material. You really have to get the rpm's up in the 350 to enjoy it which normally equals higher speeds. Interested in your comments.

I hear you. No question in the two times I've driven a 350 it was noticeably lacking low end torque. Imo I would look into shorter gearing in the rear. It was the first thing that popped in my head in my first test drive.
When I jump into my Boss from my LS3 SS sedan it too feels kinda flat down low if I lug it, but the Boss's stock gearing is much shorter than the 350 and it really helps a lot imo. It's part of the reason a Boss and a 350 is a drivers race in a straight line.

In roadracing you want "enough" torque, too much just lights the tires up driving off the corner. The engine characteristic of the GT350 makes it easier to go faster.

If it's a problem on the street, I'd look in to a Whipple or turbos for the 5.2. Not cheap, but the Trinity is not going to fit without major work; the 5.2 is tight as is.

1st goes to ~55 and 2nd goes to ~85 in these cars. That's why it feels gutless. 3rd goes to 115+.

03 Cobras went 50,80,105 with 3.55's.

Throw a 4.56 in a gt350 and bolt ons and you'll want for nothing power wise.

That would be a 500whp car with a something like 40-45 1st, 70 2nd, 100 3rd, 130 4th, 160 5th. I'm not going to go do all the math but stepping from a 3.73 to a 4.56 would be mega. Hell, a 4.30 is probably plenty.

Bolt ons will add 40whp/wtq as well.

Before going to the rabbit hole of an engine swap, do the simple stuff.

Also, full exhaust will shed 20+lbs, and you could always pick up a lighter (not R expensive/light) set of wheels too. Something like a decent $1200-2500 pair of 22-25lbs wheels. The factory ones are 33lbs iirc on the gt350. The r's are 60lbs lighter iirc as a quad, so 15 a corner, I can't remember to be honest.

Look at what people did to boss 302's 5 years ago for inspiration. There were 450whp 3650lbs boss's cutting deep 11's at 125...

Also, whipple gt350's are deadly fast on the freeway. Long gears, all the span, few shifts, etc.

I'd do Hellion twins and not bother the crank with a belt.
Plus I've driven a 488 GTB and the match of flat plan and twins is impressive, plus the twins don't mind the longer gearing.
Seriously, if you like the car but just want added power, I'd boost it before selling. I'd imagine the fact that its underpowered for it's braking/handling limits means it comes back to balance with 200hp extra. Hellion plus fuel system and happy motoring.

I think there's only a 4.09 gear available at this point.
I hear you though, I had 4.30s in my bolt-on NA '01 Cobra and new 4,56s wouldn't be too much. The Voodoo likes to sing even higher, so 4.09s until steeper become available.
With the IRS, there are also 9" conversion with plenty of gear options.

Twins are great for these cars, there's a few YouTube vids of builds with them. Definitely worth the ~$8-12k. 700whp on 6psi.

The voodoo mill is badass. So much potential. I'd love to swap one into a factory 5 Daytona coupe, 65 roadster or gt40 replica with a proper chassis build.

Imagine an e85 bolt on voodoo ~525whp with 4.30's, 27" tires and 2500lbs of tube chassis and pushrod suspension on some street slicks like an r1, nt01, mpsc2, trofeo r etc...

Good point. My wife wants a Cobra roadster (even though I'll have to paint it purple or pink), and I'm 99% sure I'll go Backdraft Racing with the M3/Z3 BMW suspension and the GT350 engine/trans. She doesn't want too much speed and would never shift over 4k, so it will suite us both, I'll just play from 4-8k :)

That is pretty cool. She's not a girly girl type, but can actually drive a stick well :) . She told me Pink or Purple so I won't drive it. I'm leaning towards SRT's plum crazy purple with silver or black stripes, but that Skyline purple looks sweet.
She doesn't really follow my car hobby, so when she says she wants a Cobra roadster, you know it's on!
Let me know what you think of the Backdraft Racing Cobras.
Also, she said she wants the SHO motor from the '89 SHO I had when we started dating but no way I'm putting a V6 in the Cobra.
