Ghost cam tune

I was talking with my tuner about a ghost cam tune for my 2014 Roush.
He said such a tune would kill the cats in short order and recommends removing the cats before he will write the tune. Also said he isn't sure if he can write over that part of the Roush tune to make it happen.
I know he had a hard time loading his tune when he installed the smaller pulley and was dynoing my car.
Anyone know anything about this?

Who is your tuner? He is right about killing the cats, not sure about the issue rewriting the tune though.

Matt Lepkowski from Performance Evolution in Smyrna,De.
Great shop, meticulous worker but this is the first time I have heard this about the cam tune.
Why does it kill the cats? Does that tune dump more fuel during idle?
My stock Roush exhaust is fairly loud and would sound good with a cam tune but with no cats would probably be way too loud!

Yeah the cam tune sounds great, but yes it dumps a ton of fuel at idle as well as creating some other driveability issues depending on the tuner.

Oh well! I heard the tune a few years ago and when I had my car tuned almost two years ago I asked him about it. Back then he said he doesn't like to do it on supercharged cars. Just saw the cam tune video Schrader performance posted of their supercharged Roush. Sounds good, sent the video to my tuner asking if he could do this to my car and his reply is my first time hearing of the cat killing issue.
I completely trust Matt but I had never heard of the cat issue until now.

Get real cams. Problem solved. :)

And hello to another Slower DE guy. My parents still have a place in Bethany.

Cat issue is not new, it was even an issue with the original trackkey tunes.
I believe all the big name ghost tunes mandate the cat removal

Plenty of good information here

It does kill cats

And it can be tuned for driveability, it just takes a good bit of tuning time to get right

Haters gonna hate but BAMA offers a cat-safe Ghost Cam tune. As well as a catless one.
