Hawk HPS 5.0 Throwing Sparks

I'm pretty sure it's normal for semi-metallic pads to throw sparks, has anyone else noticed the Hawk HPS 5.0 pads doing this? If so, how much so?

The guy I was gapping last night at the strip really seemed concerned by the amount of sparks flying out of my front wheels during shutdown.

Like I said, this wouldn't surprise me on the road course, but on the drag strip?

your brakes should not be sparking.
even on a road course, they might just glow but shouldn't spark.

Ok, after seeing video of our pass, it isn't more than typical. The way he described it was worrying me.

Yes, it is normal for race pads to throw sparks as they grind away the rotor. Especially pads like the HPS 5.0. Hawk pads are famous for it.

Not sure if you're trying to be snide or not.

You are correct, they are not "race pads", but high performance semi-metallics, of which isn't abnormal to have sparks coming from them, especially with the soft stock Brembo GT rotors. I guess I should have been more specific.
