My SC snout was seeping a bit of oil, so I told the wife I needed to send it out to get "repaired".. While I almost feel bad about throwing in a port on top, it kinda still falls under the category of a repair, right?

I'll post some before/after dyno numbers and a few pics along the way. I'm not sure how much more power, if any, that I will get out of it but we'll see. Of course, I'm hoping I'll feel a difference. I think I am making about 440RW now. I did not change the pulley (still 2.8) but it got the "sticky" treatment and the TB \plenum also got some work done.

I'll re-gap all the plugs, install a new belt and get the intercooler ultrasonicly (if that's a word) cleaned to remove the varnish from the fins. I'm also installing an oil catch can because when I took everything apart, there was more oil present than I expected there to be.

What I will say is that the turnaround was very fast and the unit came back really well packed and clean. I think it was about a week, door to door. I am impressed so far.

Of course I just realized this probably made more sense to post on the ported Eaton thread so I'll continue the rest over there. ;)

So they’re up to stage 8 now? lol. We’re you ported before? On my old Terminator I went from non-port with a 2.76 pulley to a stage 3 streggy running a 2.93/4lb combo and I was impressed with the difference. Obviously nothing like swapping a bigger blower on but the torque gain was noticable and the sound was unbeatable. I raced a few cars that ran the same combo and me now on the port and the mods showed....good luck.

Yeah, Stage 8 - sounds impressive, right? No port before, although my tuner thought there would be due to the accufab single blade. Here are a few more pics. I'm hunting for the SC to Intercooler gasket but it's not listed anywhere. I even went to the Ford dealer and they have no record of the gasket existing in their parts catalog or exploded views. The guy was thinking that the gasket was probably included as an intercooler service part package and not separately. I'll have to make one, preferably out of velum and not with rtv.

Here is a before/after of the underside:

Thanks - I was wondering about that being the case. I definitely thought I scraped some gasket material off when I disassembled it. Maybe I did not take enough pics or I am just getting old and imagining it. One end did have some gray RTV on it but I thought maybe Ford put a few dabs on areas that were more prone to air leakage or something. Good to know that RTV is sufficient either way.

I had the intercooler cleaned today. I figured as long as it was out I may as well. There's that little bit of gray RTV on the end. I'll clean that too but I wanted to leave it to see what the ultrasonic tank left behind.

Some more parts arrived. Holy expensive. I admit, I generally prefer to use factory stuff on factory stuff. I even bought a Ford replacement battery. I ordered a new gasket and new o-rings for the intercooler inlet/outlet and they came in today to the tune of $78. Does this make me an idiot or a purist? Seems like a lot of money for some rubber and cardboard but it somehow still makes me feel better that they are Ford parts.

OK, does 89lb-ft plus 90 degrees seem like A LOT of torque for the coolant lines?

Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? It's right out of the 2003 shop manual. How does 25 Nm=18lb-ft for the SC to lower intake but 10 Nm=89 lb-ft for the coolant manifold?? I guess I'll just have to use the "feel tight enough to me" method.

I also think there is a typo on the lower intake to head bolts in the manual. Those should be 89 INCH pounds as well. Many have been snapped in the past.

I’m a victim to this, I found some specs on a forum that said 15ft lbs (I thought that was way to much but went with it) and that bolt snapped so fast.

I had a Stage 8 done on my 2000L and picked up 50HP and 36 torque. No complaints here. Good luck. Hope you see some good numbers.
