Sunday Jan 13th, 2013, it's 80 degrees and beautiful in sunny Myrtle Beach, SC. What better place could I leave all that and fly to in the middle of winter than zombie apocalypse-ish Detroit. I never miss an opportunity to poke fun at Detroit, mostly because it resembles the aftermath of an alien invasion movie, but I have never been to a city that has more love of cars than the D. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a truly smart person who works for one of the Big 3. If you love cars you'll have no problem finding someone to talk shop with in Detroit.
So even if I did have to give up 60 degree an the ability to see the sun on a daily basis I was thrilled to be headed north to visit the 2013 North American International Auto Show. There was a lot going on at the show this year; GM unveiled the new Vette and truck twins, Jeep had a new diesel Grand Cherokee, Ford showed off it's new Atlas concept truck which hints at what we can expect to see from the 2015 F-150, and Bob Lutz talked to the ghost of Thomas Edison. It was petrol head nirvana.
SVTP was there to check out the new vehicles we'll be seeing in the upcoming year and the models you can buy right now. We take pride in bringing you guys the most extensive photo coverage of shows like this that you'll find anywhere and 2013 NAIAS is no exception. We took well over 1,000 photos in the span of our two days at the show, but we've managed to whittle it down to a few hundred. However, in order to keep the SVTP servers from having an aneurism we have to limit the number of pics we post per page to around 50-75. So this thread is going to have to work like our coverage of SEMA 2012, when this thread moves beyond the first page I'll post more pics. Each new page will bring new pics until we exhaust our supply. So tell us what you think; post a comment, question, dancing pepper, etc. Just get us to the next page so I can post more pics. If you must, postwhore with a modicum of moderation.

Ever dissect a frog to see how everything inside works? I think that's the idea Ford was going for here with this Raptor.
The 6R80 tranny found in the F-150 and Mustang.
The exhaust on a Raptor necks down from 3 inches to about 2.5 inches just after the cats, looks like a good place to gain some performance.
The new HID headlights found on the 2013 Raptor are awesome.
Not a car you want to see in your rear view mirror.
Not a car you want to find yourself in the back of.
Seeing things like this is the reason I never leave some of my friends alone with a plasma cutter.
The Ford F-150 features substantial front structure under its skin.
Ford uses ultra-high strength steel throughout the cab of the F-150.
The 2013 Super Duty received an updated navigation unit for 2013.
I love seeing this badge on a new Ford.

GM had its new full-size trucks on display.
[I think they look better than the outgoing models, but I'm not really all that impressed.
They did make the new interior much more upscale.
This is a great touch from GM.
GM has revamped their small-block V8s. I think re-branding them as EcoTec3 engines instead Vortec V8s is flat out dumb.
The new engines feature direct injection, variable cam timing, and cylinder deactivation.
The little steps in the side of the bumper are a nice touch.
Red Viper sexiness.
The new Viper engines features a plastic intake and throttle bodies.
The 8.4L V10 is a huge engine.
I have a secret love for the simplistic design of the Cummins ISB.
Doesn't get much more simple than flat tappets.
The 2013 Ram diesels has this sweet frame mounted fuel filter / water separator combo. Ford should take note.
The 3500 Rams got a new frame and front suspension for 2013.
The intercooler seems rather small to me though.
The 6.7 Cummins is an enormous lump of iron.
Getting an automatic tranny to live behind the Cummins has been a struggle for Dodge since the beginning of time itself.
Chrysler final got smart and just started buying a good transmission from an outside company.
This location for the fuel filter seems to make it a bit tough to change to me.
Speaking front suspension, I'm pretty sure Ram just stole it's new design from the 2005 Super Duty.
The Cummins gets urea injection for 2013.
It'll be interesting to see how much it helps improve fuel economy.

I like seeing the integrated 5th wheel/gooseneck hitch. Thanks Ford for being the first to offer it.

The interior is pretty nice.
And if you forget what you're driving you just have to read the seat to remind yourself. Last time I tried that I ended up thinking I was driving a Recaro.

Some people thin the Panamera looks terrible, but I like it.
I especially like the brakes.
