Those who have used the G.I. Bill, what were the biggest hurdles?

I want to use mine before time runs out (got out in 2010).

What were the biggest hurdles in getting it to kick in?
Any advice on what to do vs what NOT to do?

Appreciate the advice/input from people with experience with them!

Dealing with the VA to turn my GI Bill on through their bullshit VA benefits website was pain in the ass. Once you apply online, just go through school VA office for the form to verify your enrollment/amount of credits you want to take (to maximized the use, I took 12 credits)
