Hey guys so my friend just bought a '01 Cobra at a great price that's basically stock with 106,xxx miles. Not two weeks after he bought it, the throttle cable starts coming apart and he can't find one for sale anywhere and he's really unhappy with it. Talking about parting the car out and everything lol. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to buy one of these at? I can't believe Ford would produce a car for 2 years but not make maintenance parts like that available

Is your friend known to overreact a tad? AFAIK no one makes a replacement cable. His best bet might be MPS and ebay. As well as posting a WTB ad. The Mach cable is the same as the 99/01.

I believe manufacturer's are only required to make parts for 10 years after a car is built. Seeing as the car is 16 years old they're out of that time frame. Even the 03/04's are feeling it.

We have a customer with a Saleen in the same boat. Custom might be the only option at this point, unfortunate as it is. Also, the 10-year statute is baloney, having history of working at a Ford dealer I can safely tell you that part manufacturing is based off of the number of vehicles produced over the life of the vehicle, not an arbitrary 10 year period. It is a huge inconvenience for quite a few people but it explains why you can still purchase pieces for say a 96 Escort but not the Cobra, T-Bird, Cougar(FWD), Blackwood, etc...

They're on ebay all the time for like $250... I'm actively looking for one too before I break down and just get one there... sucks but it is what it is and it SHOULD be a one time purchase... Same deal with the 96-98 Cobra cables and the Bullit
