This question goes out to my SRA drag guys. How many of you have done some kind of tq box reinforcents? I was under the car today and noticed some distrotion starting on both of them. 600rwhp and launching off a 2 step on slicks seems to be beating them up a bit. What have you guys done?

I was going to have the seams of my torque boxes welded up when I go sra. If I went to the track more I would really consider the battle boxes. At what point/power level do they become necessary?

Yeah I think im going to get those battle boxes. Maybe some of the other drag race guys have some input? I have 600rwhp launching at 3500 on a two step and it seems to be starting to distort them.

I'm on auto with radial, 1.5x 60's and haven't had any issue yet. Care to post pictures?

I've researched this before and remember welding in the boxes or extra plates was the best option.

I haven't had my latest build to the track yet, but in preparation for abuse with ~700whp I welded in some SMR torque box reinforcements:

    Upper:

If you want to keep the back seat, the upper bolts will have to be cut off and welded:

Lower. Not much welding there, but the torque box opening will need cut out some.

@sutyak is there any clearance issues with that dif cover? I'm going to run a TA cover and didn't know how close it came to everything above it.

I've also used the SMR on several fox bodies. Cheap insurance and easy install. I bolted and stitch welded my kits in.

The braided fuel line rubbed it slightly, but I caught that quickly and tied them out of the way. No other clearance issues.

Mine are fully welded and I added a brace kit....cheap insurance. No issues with them distorting.

I didnt know you had to cut the bolts to keep the back seat!! I haven't put the seat back in yet, can you just cut the bolt right above the nut an be good?

Any one running the anti roll bar on there sra? It doesn't look like there is a lot of room for it. My fuel lines run right through there so its gonna be tight

Lots of people run ARB's (including myself). You have to get the right one if you want to retain your over axle pipes.

I doubt it, but you could try. The lower bar goes right across the bolts. You can see how far the top is from touching. Here is a pic when I was test fitting before any welding. Let us know if it fits with just cutting threads off the bolts.

It will be a month before I'll be able to get it back together, but I will update as soon as I know something.
