Well finally got the urge to start working on the 69 again. Putting off any more work on the 2010 to start funneling cash towards my first car. I'm really excited about working on the car. I've picked up a few parts for it already (nothing too major).

Started today by putting the car on jack stands and taking off the stock hood. Stock hood will be replaced with a new steel cowl hood.
Started prepping to remove the 94 Z28 LT1/T56 setup. Motor has a new owner waiting for it, and the transmission is being sold to a co-working for swap into his 70 Chevelle SS.

Coming soon, I'll be removing the 10 year old MAACO paint job for something a little nicer. Car will be returned to Hugger Orange and plan to have the body completely refinished and all rust removed.

Also soon to come, picking up a 6.0L iron block later this week for a 408 build w/ L92 heads. Will be setting it up to be decent NA motor but plans to add boost in the future. Also may pick up a 12 bolt factory 69 rearend to build for this car to replace the 8.2" 10 bolt factory limited slip rearend. 12 bolt I'm looking at already has 4.10s and a posi. Already picked up a LS type T56 that has been rebuilt and comes with a Spec clutch (may/may not use, undecided).

Ultimately I would like this car to have full aftermarket suspension (ie front clip, 4 link, etc). For now I'm going to focus on getting the body work done, maybe get it mini-tubbed in the process, and get it running. I'll do suspension after it's running/driving. Easy enough to do and will let me enjoy the car about a year sooner for a while as I save up for the suspension.

Now on to the pics! Not much done today but car is still kinda cramped in the garage (working on making more room to work as well!)

I will be updating this. Don't expect final results for quite some time but hope to use this thread for motivation/incentive to put the work in. Hoping to have the engine/trans out by the weekend and then I'll see if I'm going to strip it in the garage or have it media blasted/stripped by a shop.

Very cool.
It would be awesome to do hugger orange with white stripes on it. Have the opposite of the 2010.

Ever think of IRS? I know you guys like taking turns. lol

Very nice project, make sure those stripes are much closer together when u repaint and not all the way down the car, and no roof stripes

Cobra knob might stay.

Going to be hugger orange w/ black accents. Undecided at this point. Originally it was orange w/ white interior.

Interior is in great shape except for carpet and no dash.

Going to update most of it though.

Stripes will be correct when re-done. I was 13 the first time it was painted. Hence the ugly stripes and ugly yellow. I've learned a lot since then!

No IRS in this car. Just going to be a fun "cruiser." Going to take it out a few times but nothing serious. Goal will be 500+ na rwhp then boost it later. Going to be low on nice wheels and big tires but keep the "classic" look.

Thanks for the kind words. Using these threads as motivation for the build. Car had a rough life so far (daily driven to highschool). Time to start pampering it!

An LS7 or even an LS9 would be so sick in there. But, a blown LS3 will be bad ass too!

I will stay with this one to see the final outcome.

Very nice! Keeping the original paint scheme or you plan on mixing it up?

Sounds awesome. This will get coilovers eventually as well and bigger brakes. Not going the aftermarket brake route. I have C5 front and rear setup but trying to see if I can make the brembos off the 2010 Camaros work. If they can slow that heavy beast down they should have no problem with ~3300lbs.

WOW, your 2010 Camaro looks sexy from the back. Anymore pics?

Lots more, shoot me a PM and I'll send some more pics of it.

Yea LS7 or LS9 would be ideal but the price is just too high for me. I would LOVE to have the alum block as well but for now I'm doing an iron 6.0L block. It will be a 408ci w/ the L92/LS3 heads CNC'd. Should be good for 500+ on an NA setup. Hopefully quite a bit more with boost :)

It will be similar to how it was from the factory. It WAS Hugger Orange (primer when I got it in '97). Car was orange with white interior. Contemplating white on the interior but the car will definitely go back to orange. Trying to decide what accents. I'm leaning towards black.

Going to be heading out there to work on it in a little bit. Going to try to make a little more room around the car. Drain the remaining fluids and start prepping it for removal. Pick up an engine hoist from a friend and maybe try to get it out tonight or tomorrow.

Yea this car was my first car. We were searching for two cars at the time, 69 Camaro and a 69 Mustang. This was what we found first. I hope to have a 69 Mustang int he future, just no room for it and one project at a time!

GL Will, it looks like you got your work cut out for you, LOL. I love that year Camaro. It should be a beast once it's completed.

You should get white stripes to complement your other Camaro, since base will be Orange.

Sweet project William!

Let me know if you ever need an extra set of hands...

Or someone to drag that 2010s ass :D

Actually, I've been looking for a project to start myself

Yep I'll let you know if I need an extra set of hands. Hopefully you got that GT500 modified now so you dont get drug by the 2010 SS....Again :)

We do need to run again. I'm making about 75rwhp MORE than the first time we raced. Should be fun.
