Ok I finished up everything!
Last thing, and one of the best, was CobraBob's Shifter Gasket to replace my old one.
I also added my Penzoil Syncromax through the shifter as well.
Got everything else buttoned up and sat behind the wheel for final checks.
The clutch is SO EASY it is almost comical! When people say like a Honda they really mean it! The pedal effort has to be at least half if not more than the stock one was!
Now I will have to drive my 500 break in miles and give my feedback as I do.
Stay tuned....
I put the tranny on the jack under the car.So I was thinking, how did u fit the tranny on top of the jack under the car, or did u put the tranny on the jack under the car?
Shhhh. That was supposed to be a secret.Ok serious question here, did you wax the paint on the transmission tunnel in this pic??
:thumbsup:very nice, I know what my clutch is getting replaced with
Yeah. I don't know if it has anything to do with the flywheel or not. I am really picky as well and if it chattered I would be the first to let everyone know.
Thanks man. Another day down and still enjoying it. :thumbsup:LOL yea i was going to say it looks way to clean lol.. congrats man I'm glad that you are enjoying the clutch.
Yeah. It's not bad, just a little bit on take off. Can't get it to do it on every take off, only some. With about 350 miles on the clutch now, the chatter is gone. I'm guessing the roughness of the new flywheel had something to do with it. I love this clutch so far. :rolling:
Glad to hear I could help. I always like to share my experiences with others to help them if they decide to go with something similar. I am glad now I went with the RXT instead of the RST. I really hate doing work twice. Can't tell you how much I appreciate this thread. Stock clutch finally gave up at 76k. Actually happened on my first 1/4 mile pass in almost 5 years.I hadn't been to the drag strip since I took it on a road course back in 2005, so no clutch drops or powershifts. Will be going with stage 4 port soon and after researching the Mcleod twins I was thinking RST but not 100% comfortable with the decision. I've been checking this thread twice a day and I'm now comfortable with the decision to go with the RXT instead.
Now all I have to do is find someone to install it correctly.
Thanks OP and to all for contributing your thoughts and experiences. I will do the same soon as I can get it installed and back on the road.
Course this aint Texas, so it might be a while between the cold and snow and the road salt!
Merry Christmas to all!
I did the 26 spline input shaft and had skaarew04SVT press in the new retainer sleeve. Took him like 1 minute. LOL. The input shaft is as easy as unbolting the front cover and swapping in the new shaft and checking end play. Really not too difficult. No where near as difficult as a clutch swap.Who is installing the spline and retainer? I paid $200 to have the retainer installed. Not cheap. Supposedly the whole tranny casing needs to come apart.
Here is the stock flywheel bolted back up! All torqued to 63 ft lbs as per the Cobra Manual. (I used a post it note to help with the torque sequence)
All this will be getting cleaned throughly with Brake Clean before the disc goes on. As well as all the other clutch components.
I switched flywheels and didn't need the spacer with the ARP bolts. Are you reusing the stock flywheel? If so check the bolt length versus the stock ones becaus I want to say they were a bit shorter but I can't remember for sure.
Is the metal ring necessary between the ARP bolts and the flywheel?
Yes.

Yes. I reused the stock flywheel and the bolts were long enough.I switched flywheels and didn't need the spacer with the ARP bolts. Are you reusing the stock flywheel? If so check the bolt length versus the stock ones becaus I want to say they were a bit shorter but I can't remember for sure.
Yes. It is pretty straight forward if you follow my steps. The tranny jack was a tremendous help!how hard would you say this install would be if you have never done a clutch install before? i can follow directions well and have all the tools to do so. this looks like it is pretty straight forward.
Yes. So that the bolts don't dig into the aluminum.Absolutely. That "metal ring" is the washer for the 8 bolts.
