wow props to you bro, that's exactly what i wanted to do with my irs but i couldn't have her off for more than a weekend. I did the LPW cover, studed the bearings in the diff.

Im 99% Sure u have to take the bushings out if u powdercoat it, with powdercoating you have to bake the powder but if your painting it i dont see why not.

Yea, I didnt stud the bearing because I didnt really see a point in doing it. Maybe that was a wrong decision:bash:
Not sure if 400ish degree will hurt those dudes. Maybe an email/pm to Bruce will get that answer:shrug:

very nice sir. i actually just pm'ed bruce about knuckles/hubs too.
Thanks, I would love them. I am lookig for a reason why I NEED them:burnout:

Great progress...nicely done, will look for updates
Thanks!

Looks great Alex!
Thank you!

If I was to do it again or I get another batch of silver vein, I will take off the IRS frame mounts and PC them also. I was looking at the area yesterday and forgot to do those.:burn::bash::fm:

Knuckles will be here on tuesday next week. found an irs subframe w/ control arms and almost ready to order bushing kit and diff. components, i also procured a brand new center section. Anybody need a brand new stock cover? i'm ready, i hope i can make it look half as good as yours turned out. Also did u coat brake splash shields also? they look black in pics.

I did coat the dust shields a while back when I did the front suspension. I actually dont have them in any pics that I recently posted. They are still laying on the garage floor

UPDATE

Well the IRS is back in the car and what a bitch it was to get it in there. We had to support the car on the IRS (that was sitting on the cups) and then push the car down on the cradle. The upper mounts (inner side) did not want to play. But we (thanks Shane) got it in and bolted up.

Took it out last night after the Fedex dude delivered my new SS bassani catback, and it is pretty awesome. When I took off from the garage, you can just tell how the rearend feels different. Granted, it is probably pretty far out of alignment, but it is pretty amazing. You can fly around corners and when you get on it (500hp) it tracks very well. Wheel hop is pretty much gone. When I get home in a few months I will have it properly aligned and then give a report...

EDIT: There is no change in NVH. At 100, the rear sounds stock!!

I found that a tranny jack is you best friend when doing an IRS. You can tilt it front, back, and side to side. It pretty much makes it a one man job. I thought I had a pic with mine on the jack, but I can't find it.

I took my time.. got pissed alot but overall it is really great!! Also love the note of the full bassani exhaust w/ cats. It is pretty wicked at WOT!! I still amazed that even though the diff is aluminum mounted, it is still quiet. Bruce, you are the man!!

Its also handy for doing clutchs obviously. I could do 5 speeds off my back with no jack but not the 6 speed. I guess im a wuss. My first IRS i did with a floor jack and that sucked. Tranny jack is like having extra people there since none of my "friends" can ever help.

Roaring down the highway at 100 isn't where you'll notice any change in NVH. Navigating bombed out city streets at 25 to 35 is.
