FYI go to the Hurst web site they have a back up switch for their shifters...Just ordered mine.. $25.?? + shipping
Hey, I just looked and saw the one for $25, but it didn't say it was for the quarter stick, so I looked under quarter stick accessories and found this one. Not sure how it would be placed and hooked up, so I hope it comes with instructions! haha

Thanks, I'll have to hit you up if I ever get to bring my car home on one of my visits with my family up there.

It's been running for a couple weeks, just got the lock up fixed last Friday though. Didn't want to post the thread til that was straight.

Man, why the hell did I think it was done since the end of last season. :bash: too many other things going on I guess. lol

And yeah, I have a thread I am waiting to post as well. Just need to finish up a few things and then I will be posting it.

No, it didn't come from street, and the AFR is usually right on, so we need to do some more testing. It just got ridiculously hot here, so I'm not doing anything til it cools off a bit.

Yeah I was home last weekend and it was stupidly hot. Days like that don't make me miss the L at all.

How long of a drive shaft did you have to order? Do you still have the IRS or is it a SRA?

What fluid are you running?

I hope the trans works out. Many reports of failures are popping up all over the place.

You aren't gonna lock the converter at WOT are you?

As far as failures, my BC Automotive 4R70W with a Circle D converter has been in my car running 9s for three years without touching it. Car ran a 9.37 @ 148 a couple of weeks ago on my last track visit.

As far as locking up the converter, I do it on every pass. And there have been a ton of those in three years on this combo. Mine is actually fully automatic and EEC controlled on my passes, leaving off the foot brake at about 2K with mid-low 1.4 60ft. Now my car is also only making a measly 753 rear wheel, but man I love my transmission set-up. It just works.

Nice set-up on the transmission. I hope yours works as well as mine.

Thanks for the post. Darrin was talking about your car when I was shopping around. How the hell are you pulling 1.4's only being able to footbrake it to 2200 rpm? What rear gear are you running?

Running 4.10 gear. The beauty of being able to lock-up the converter in third is I can run a 4.10 and trap at 7500rpm. It's almost like having a 4th gear. If I had an open converter I'd have to go to at least 3.73 gears which would hurt my short times, of course.
This time slip actually isn't my best 60ft or MPH due to heat that day but it is my best ET. It's gone 4.10 60s. And I swear, only foot braking it at 2000 rpm.

Don't get me wrong, I believed you, I'm just so used to hearing everybody say that you need to run a tiny gear like 3.27's to run decent times. Maybe I better take my car to the track before I send the converter back or change my gears down! haha Your launch looks so soft for a 1.4 60'.

The best comment on that it launches so soft was made by a friend at the track. He said "That second thirty feet must be quick as hell because the first thirty feet it doesn't look like it's even moving."
Car leaving like that instead of off a trans brake also doesn't tear itself up. I'm sure it would lower my 60ft with a TB but I just haven't gone there yet. The car is running these times with a T-Trim, 16psi of boost and 16 deg of timing on unleaded 100 octane. When it's working, I TRY to leave it alone. Maybe some 110 octane or C16 and 22deg of timing would be fun though.

Holy cow man, you're making 100hp more than I am. Get it sorted out and have some fun. Yours should run some serious numbers.

I don't know the weight but in the video running mid 9s, the car had a full interior except a rear seat delete. It still had stock Bullitt seats, AC, Stereo, heater, etc. Basically stock except a 6-pt roll bar. Right after that session I installed a 10 point chrome-molly cage and all the remaining required 8.50 safety stuff and got my NHRA License. With the 10point install I pulled the AC, stereo and stock seats out and put in a Kirkey. After the 10pt install is when the car went 9.37. The motor is an aluminum Teksid block which helps some too but I also have a T1000 air/water intercooler hanging off the front, which adds some weight too. Car still has full 2.5" exhaust out the stock locations. So to answer your question, I have no clue what the car weighs.
And no turbo. Wish it did! Currently it's just a lowly T-Trim feeding a Boss 330 motor and Kris Starnes heads. It was huge when I went to the 4R70W from the 5-speed. With Darrin's tranny and the Circle D converter the RPMs stay between 6200 and 7500 all the way down the track. I just dial the shifts in on the EEC by plotting the drive shaft speed. The T-Trim just loves the constant RPM. As turbos should also. I credit the tranny change to .75 in ET on my car. YMMV.

Yeah, I would be really interested to hear about these failures because it's the first I've heard of it. I'm not getting any calls on anything like that and you would figure that if this was the case that I would have heard at least something. Perhaps if there are problems then someone ought to call me? Can't fix what I don't know about.

I think I hear fish.

Congrats Shane! You are gonna love it.

Thanks Bob! I know you love yours.

Take care
Darrin

Darrin, I don't think he was talking about yours. As you know there were some people that did the "Jerry Mod" on the 4Rs badly and they were crap. One in my area in particular! I'm sure that was the root of that comment. They aren't easy to get right but when they are, they really really work.

I have Kooks on mine. I don't think the BBKs will work but see if the BBKs are listed to fit the Automatic Mach 1. If they will, they should be OK.

Couple of good passes yesterday in Valdosta GA with the BC 4R and Circle D converter. With 100+ deg track temps I added 110 fuel an dialed in 2 more degrees of timing and it was data logging a total of 20 deg. The car went 152.3 mph. The T1000 air/water intercooler really does it's job in the SE summer heat.

The second pass was a classic drag race against a real race car. Please note the Zero light reaction time by yours truly. I'm old, but still have the R/T going. Don't think the race car expected to see that street car lined up against him's rear bumper all the way down the track. Pulled the 1.39 60 ft (best ever) launching off the foot brake at 3000. Wish I had a video of that one!

I'm loosing some ET on mid pass so I think I'm going to bump up the 1/2 and 2/3 shift rpm a few hundred RPM and see how it acts. It's trapping at 7300 at 152mph so it certainly is still making HP at that RPM.
