Check this out, new IRS upgraded differential cover:

M-4033-G3.jpg

http://fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=12464

Fits 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra
Load bolts provide additional support for differential bearing caps
Increased ring and pinion gear life
Fits IRS only

Appears to be stronger than the stock diff cover.

Also available with a complete IRS diff pumpkin: Ford Racing Performance Parts

Looks like the standard 8.8 type diff cover upgrade with a stronger build and the load bolts for bearing caps.

i wonder if it could be machined to have a o-ring to seal it. looks like enough material there.

Nice, thought Ford Racing would have come out with one alot sooner. Just had my lpw installed a couple months back, looks similar.

My thoughts exactly, a little late to the game but looks pretty beefy. Let's see how it holds up. Now someone has to buy one and launch the hell out of their car.

Looks about $50 more than the LPW. BTW the next run of rear housing are +$279 or so. I was trying to buy 1 a few weeks ago, all out in the US, next run later in the year with the price hike. Went ahead and bought I used Mark VIII housing for $100, figured it would have taken less abuse than a Cobra. Having Mark Williams bearing caps machined in, not trusting the bolts on the cover to pick up all the slack.

Correct, however it looks like the ford racing has stainless steel hardware, where I had to spend about 30 bucks to get the arp ss bolts.
