^^^ Yup, that is why you should have a 30 amp relay. I've seen guys run none or just one for both pumps but thats not for me. I have a 2-30 amp relays. And def 8ga main feed.

Are we sure this 8 AWG recomendation isn't coming off a 110volt AC chart? Several sources I find for Automotive 12 volt DC; indicate that 10 AWG is the wire to use for 30 amps in the 15-30 foot range.

I've installed an additional FPDM and haven't ran the wire from the battery yet. This is something I want to get right but I dont want overkill.

Here they show 10 AWG @ 30 amps good for 15', 20', and 25'; chart doesn't run out to 30'. They also show 8 AWG for 40-50 amps running 25' and short runs (5-10') of 150/200 amps.

This pdf shows 10 AWG can run 60' @ 15 amps and 45' @ 20 amps. Doesn't show 30 amps; but if you use the 15 amp number then 30 amps would be around 30' half the length for twice the amps.

Black Cobra you want 8 gauge NOT 10 for that NO Doubt!
And yes the GT pumps have more current draw than the Oem,Aviator and SVT Focus pumps!

As long as you have a good quality 10ga wire, it can be used with twin GT pumps. The catch is making sure it is good wire. The 10ga wire I'm using is designed for a continuous 30A load. If you're not sure of the rating, go 8ga. Even cheap 8ga wire should handle a continuous 30A load.

A fuse is a must. I went an unconventional route; I added a circuit to the engine bay fuse panel. The slot I filled uses a MAXI fuse. :-D

Well, I don't really have info in my article about running wires through a stock hat. The best way I've seen to run wires through a hat is found here: Stock fuel hat... Lethal dual FPDM kit..

10 guage is enough but most prefer to use 8 guage for the safety margin. The pumps are pulse width modulated so the voltage and current will be low while cruising around. 10 guage wire isn't going to heat up if you do 1/4 mile stuff. If you are a road course guy and driving the car hard for extended periods of time than 8 guage may be a better choice just because then the pumps will be pulling more current longer. Also I would not recommend hooking up the FP relays so each relay operates the pumps individually. The reason I say that is because if one of the relays die you may not notice until the motor burns down from going lean due to it running on only one pump.

Thanks sir! Hey I noticed at the bottom of your FPDM link a method for wiring the 2nd fpdm that DOESN'T run the additional wire through the hat and not needing an additonal plug, would this be OK for my setup? Not planning on going over 550RW and not too concerned about splicing those wires, this car will not be put back to stock and if if does I'll worry about it then, haha!

It doesn't seem like it in the picture, but there is an additional pair of wires running down to the hat for the 2nd pump. That pic was just to show what it could look like if a stand-alone harness wasn't used. Unfortunately, there is no way around skipping the additional pair of wires for a pump.

OP - GT pumps are made for a returnless system. You will need pumps made for a return style system if that is what you are doing.
