It's funny reading this topic and just realized motortrend and inside line just did video reviews of the challenger on YouTube. Oh and the smoking tire. All agreed that it's a little slower than the 5.0 from 0-60 and in the quarter if I'm not mistaken but dnt quote me on that cuz I'm at work and not looking at the video right now.

Thy say it's big and it feels big. It's the most comfortable riding car of the bunch but put it on anything other than a straight road and it feels like a big ol pig.

They reviews the challenger the charger and the jeep srt8

I believe that was a factory mule that is subject to some debate?

the 392 is a pig and slow for its motor and cost.

....i guess thats defiently one way to put it....but i think you're forgetting the fact that this car wasnt meant to be "bang for the buck" type of car...

heck if you're gonna make that statement, might as well put down exoctic cars for that matter as well....most lambo's do 11's stock in the 1/4 and have a price tag over 1/4 of a million dollars.

guess that wud be considered REALLY REALLY slow for it motor vs. cost.

people just buy the car because they are die-hard mopar fans.

Dodge recognized that its previous challenger was getting its ass handed to it by the Chevy and Ford boys, and dedcided to up its game and respond with the 392. end of story.

little pricey if you ask me...but die hard mopar fans who dont want to buy a mustang or camaro, can now compete with a car that now has a chance and not venture away from the brand they love. ;-)

Very well put! I think the Challenger is the best looking throw back model out there. They got the look right and it has a very nice ride. the 392 everywhere is a little over the top but it looks nice. I only posted the times I see in person at the track around here, I can't speak for all over the country..Next time we go to the track I will take the wife's GT/CS bone stock with couple hunderd miles on it and run my buddies 392 Challenger and get it on video,,But then the dodge boys would just post he can't drive, so whats the point?

The problem with the 392 is weight and price. You're comparing a 50K car with a low 30K car. It's price point is GT500/ZL1, which both with skilled drivers will walk a Challenger all day long. Truthfully when the Challenger first came out I really liked the look. After several years it's beginning to look dated, whereas the Mustang in 2010 got a very nice restyle.

The Mustang and Challenger are two different animals. The Challenger is truly a muscle car as it's nearly the size of a full size sedan.

The Mustang is a pony car, way lighter, more nimble and of course way cheaper.

When it comes to performance, the 392 fairs well in a straight-line against a GT, but in every other aspect would get annihilated because of it's sheer size.

That doesn't mean it's a bad car for the money though. I'd much rather drive across country in a Challenger than I would in a Mustang or Camaro. Having 470hp on-tap is just an awesome bonus.

I also love the styling, I never cared for the Charger but always had a soft spot for the Challenger since day one. Especially when you consider the sheer size of it.

There aren't a lot of 4300lb land yachts that look this good.

If I had the means, I'd have both in my garage.

Haven't really read the entire thread but I raced an srt8 challenger on the interstate saturday and drug him..it wasn't even fair. A side note it did sound like an auto but still it was a pig.

i think they kept the challenger pretty true to it's original design, and that is awesome. but boy oh boy is that thing an f'in minivan. lol. i see a couple of them in the parking lot at work and i'm floored as to how giant they are. they are definitely muscle car status. i got so pissed when the 'retro' charger came out and looked like complete ass, and it's motherf'in 4 doors. not cool mopar, not cool. i absolutely love the 70s mopar cars, and was let down with the charger's amazing appearance. but that 392 is pretty tight. definitely gotta be brand loyal to own that beast though.

I could see that given your mods. Question though - the Brembos are available outside of the 3.73 track pack?

That race was before the jlt and tune so my car only had a catback at the time of the race. And yes the brembo package can be had with any gear configuration. I really wanted 3.73s but couldn't find the car I wanted with them around me so I decided I'd add them later.

Yea I saw that video. That's the same one that's been on YouTube for a while now. Nomote have come up since those. I wish I could see more races between those but I dnt think many people have that challenger 392.

Plus the thing is pushing $45k- that's a lot of dough for that car. I don't see $45k worth but maybe it's just me:shrug:

Just rode in a blue w/ white stripes 392 last night (will post pics when I get them edited... they are like 20mb each right now) feels WAY different than the 6.1L srt8, impressed with the car though to be honest... 4200lbs, M6.. comfortable, smooth ride and moved out for being so big. Say what you want but these cars are not given enough credit.

Not too bad

It will be a factory option available for the SRT line, not dealer installed like FRPP. Not 100% confirmed, but it's looking that way.

Not bad for racing down hill

im not a big fan of the rediculous hype and whirl wind about the 392, but i do believe its .1 faster on average stock for stock. the 392 hooks well because of its rear weight, and mid range acceleration is really good.

there is so much fudging going on to be "king of stock" that who really knows.

3600 vs. 4160 is a big advantage.

Hey man u in baton rouge? What color is your 5.0 I've probably seen u since it's so few 5.0's in baton rouge

Yep. Mine is performance white on RTR wheels. I might be taking it to siknic this weekend if you want to come out.

Are you sure it was a 6.4 and not a 6.1?

I'm not 100% sure. I didn't know the guy but it was a srt-8 and looked like a new one.
