yesterday morning got a chance to run a 2011 SRT8 Challenger in my 03 Cobra...

*my mods are below

The Challenger is my former Chief's new car. He used to have a 2007 Shelby GT500 and a 2010 Challenger R/T He traded them both in for a 2011 Green Challenger SRT8 392 Hemi. This car is beautiful. It's got the Green Metallic looking paint with black racing stripes.

Anyways, I didn't get a chance to video record it, because it was very last minute type deal, and I already had left the house without my bloggie (I should have use my phone, but it sorta didn't cross my mind)

His car is automatic. He was the driver and he had 2 passengers, and I was driving my Cobra with 1 passenger. Also, we live in Colorado and this altitude can really kill a car's performance, especially a N/A car...

ON TO THE RACES:
first race was from a 40 roll, and I pulled away pretty quickly and had him by several car lengths by the time I hit 100mph or so. I asked him if he was on it and he said yes, but told me his car would have a better chance against mine from a dead stop.

second race was from a dead stop. (we were on I-70 east of Denver, Co where the traffice is sparce and the speed limit is 75mph. so we pulled off briefly until the road was completely clear). I dumped the clutch a little, not too much, and spun some, then caught pretty well... had minor trouble getting into 2nd gear, but it didn't matter. I had him from go. I pulled so hard and fast from him it was silly. These were his exact words afterwards "By the time I hit 110mph u had me by atleast 4 or 5 car lengths and were still pulling away so I let off it..."

He followed me back to my house and we chatted a bit (I should have gotten a pic of his car, but I did not think about it). I asked him if he was on it all the way and he said "yes, you beat me fair and square".

bottom line: I walked that 2011 challenger SRT8, and these news ones are supposed to 475bhp, 12.9 1/4 mile cars, 0-60 in 4.5.

update 10/22/2011: wanted to add some pics of his SRT8

Nice runs and kill. I hear those things are a sweet ride, but still really heavy. Look dead sexy imo though..

Nice kill. Gotta be upsetting for the other guy, but I would never have traded those other two cars for that.

Yeah. he had owned the Shelby since early 2008 (bought it new) and the 2010 Challenger R/T for since Feb 2011. He just retired and his income has went down a little. He told me he is saving about $600 in car payments now with just the one car. But I would rather have the Shelby between the 3...

and I think he dropped close to $50,000 on it. *SMH* I laughed after and told my buddy riding shotgun in mine "give him 2 weeks and he will have traded that in for another shelby GT500" :)

I may be mistaken..but I beelieve the 2011 SRT 8 is 425 HEMI with 470 HP..
The 392 is no where near that

Good kill, those new 392's pack a lot of power. It's a shame it's such a heavy car.

ps I love Denver! Hope to go back there again soon.

Good Kill, for the money the SRT8 is it should be able hang in there with more cars. I don't think I've seen one win a race in person, nice looking cars though.

Traded in a FI car with tons of potential for a great looking but way to heavy N/A car in Colorado altitude....Not the sharpest Chief is he?

well yes and no LOL. he was never the type to any mods to his car(s). only thing he ever did to his GT500 was exhaust. he felt strongly that mods brought down the value of the car. I think the primary reason he got the challenger, is because he used to have a 1970ish Challenger R/T as his first ever car, bought it new and he owned it for like 30 years, and sold it. and he has regretted it ever since, so I think having a Challenger just has a special place in his heart.
