I don't want to beat a dead horse, I've done some searching dating back to 2007, also curious about flywheels with these two clutch kits. Looking to hear from people who've actually had these clutches.

As of now my car only makes 455rwhp/479tq, but it seems I have some noise in my T56 which likely is a TOB, retainer sleeve or both. At some point in time I'll likely put a whipple on. But are these clutches fine with my power level and street use? Car see's zero drag strips. I'm starting to make a list of things to replace while the tranny is out, and man I have about 2300-2500 just in parts! Of course the Lethal discount will help some!

Also I was looking at the fidanza aluminum flywheel, but there seems to be alot of debate over steel and aluminum, but this is a street only car. Thanks alot guys!

I have the RXT with the stock aluminum flywheel and it's the best clutch I have ever had! perfectly streetable, feels just like stock, I've been stuck in traffic jams and stop and go traffic, no problems at all. when it needs to hold the power it bites!
I will never go back to anything else and I have been through stock GT, stock Cobra, Spec 1 and Spec 3+ before I got the RXT

Honestly you could go with the RST being as YOU NEVER hit the drag strip. Myself I'd get the RXT and call it a day. The RST if something goes wrong at the drag strip Mcleod will not cover it. Just adding it in here.

I have a RXT with an aluminum flywheel with no issues and i am around the same power level as you. I needed a new TOB and clutch so I figured why not go with a real nice one before the blower upgrade.

RXT owner here, been driving it since february. outstanding clutch, excellent light feel. it's way lighter than the factory clutch. holds the tq no problem. it has as light a feel as the hydraulic clutches in my 2 vettes

RST street only, McLeod steel flywheel, awesome. If I were to do it now, lightened steel to test out.

Great info so far guys! I'll likely just go the RXT route in hopes of NOT having to go through the tranny again in a long time. I'm still torn on what flywheel to go with. Also any input on the noise I'm hearing would be great, I have it in the drivetrain section and added some pictures. Just hoping I'm 100% sure it's in the transmission!

A car with your mods will be fine with a Spec 2+!

Yeah but like I've said, I only want to go through the tranny once for a long time! And I've heard to many mixed views on spec clutches, and not so much with Mcleod's! Also I do plan on going with a 2.9 whipple sometime down the road.

I'd go with aluminum myself. I had steel and didn't care for it to much. Then again that was mostly with a Spec 3+ which wouldn't let me really slip the clutch. I guess with the RXT and that flywheel it was okay. When I eventually switch back to the 6 spd (hopefully get into road racing) I'm going with the aluminum.

If you're going to go with a 2.9 Whipple down the road then get the RXT and call it a day.

Good info, what aluminum flywheel are you going to get? I too would really like to try road racing, I've never done it, but I think it would be a blast!

RXT for when you add more power in the future. There is nothing negative that I've read from either one but why not go with the stronger, higher rated one since you already mentioned adding power in the future. I mean who can stay content without modding? Cheers

Mcleod.

A week after my auto went in I asked my wife about road racing and she said she could see herself at least trying it.:bash: Are you kidding me rofl.

I did what you are planning to do. TOB went out and it was time to replace the clutch so I installed FRPP TOB, Lethal TOB retainer sleeve (TOB was seized to the old one so HAD to replace that), Liberty 26 spline input shaft, FRPP pilot bearing, Fidanza aluminum flywheel, and McLeod RST clutch.

I never intended to race it and figured I would never go over about 550 rwhp so the RST was perfect. Engagement is butter smooth and pedal pressure is very light. 300 miles later a shop forgot to put oil in at an oil change and my engine seized up so now I'm building an engine (with a Whipple 2.9) that should crank out close to 800 crank hp which is the advertised limit of the RST. I still don't intend to race it so my mechanic says I should still be good with the RST, but McLeod says I should upgrade. I trust my mechanic, but I'll worry less with the RXT so I am upgrading to the RXT. Actually just ordered it about an hour ago.

Sounds like you have settled on the RXT which is what I would suggest. I think an aluminum flywheel is just fine for our cars with a McLeod clutch. Steel would help with chatter but chatter isn't a problem with a McLeod. It seems just plain wrong to downgrade to steel when our cars come from the factory with an aluminum flywheel. If you are drag racing, your car may bog less easily with steel, but on the street the tires will spin before the engine bogs so I really don't see any advantage to having steel on the street. I want the acceleration advantage of the aluminum flywheel.

Thanks for the info! Sorry about your situation that blows. I pretty much have everything on my list as what you mentioned you have. Might go with a D&D 26 spline though and also a fiore firewall adjuster and quadrant. Probably also add the LDC head cooling mod since the tranny will be out.
