Just wondering if the fellow officers on here give courtesy to fellow officers or firefighters when you pull them over, including family members of such when Iam speaking of family in terms of immediate, like pulling over an officers son or daughter, wife etc.

I ask because not all officers think the same, they may sometimes look the other way regardless of who the person is that they're pulling over etc.

Also If an officer has tint on the car do you cite them for it etc? just a general question thats all.

Professional Courtesy is a good thing when used at the proper moments. Proper moments depend on the circumstances behind the encounter with the off-duty officer.
I have written other LEOs. Not something that I enjoy doing, but when that off-duty LEO is putting other people, including his/her own family in danger of harm, then I think professional courtesy is out the window.

I wrote an out of state officer for doing 99 in a 65 zone, with his wife and two kids in the SUV. He asked me not to write him using "P.C." since he was a cop. I aksed him if I came to his state and murdered somebody would he be able to help me out using the same "P.C."? His answer was no.

Over the years I extended PC to a few officers, along with warnings to probably 30% of all the cars I stopped.

I never extended the courtesy to family members and I don't believe others should either. Just my 2 cents worth.

It certainly depends on the infraction/charge. For the most part no one gets cut a break on a criminal charge. For an infraction, I use the same descretion I use for other drivers. However, most officers rapidly admit they had their heads up their ass and ask for help and that goes a long way. While most drivers get defensive and demand a break.

key words....for the most part. Of course they do its who you know these days you should be well aware of that. I know of way to many examples of this locally in regards to Criminal and Traffic offenses.

I agree with the above posts. It would depend on the situation and circumstances. I too have written officers in my 22 years, but only three that I know of.

What moron blacks out there windshield in Jersey, I know we are all fist-pumping morons, but wow, that is a new low....:bash:

I will say this, Shields and Gold Cards are way overused in NJ, it is absolutely ridiculous how some of my shit driving friends get out of tickets cause they flash their shield or gold card.

I would never tint my windshield, but do have the rest of my windows done!

You'd be surprised how often I see it. I never go a shift without seeing atleast one or two with 35 percent or darker on the entire windshield.

Carlo, I would hide as well if I were you.

I agree with the above as well.

I write way more warnings than tickets to any of the motoring public, so this applies to all drivers.

Any minor traffic offense that can be corrected by a warning gets just that, most officers I have stopped haven't specifically asked for a break. They show their badge and creds, inform me that they are carrying...etc. Which I'm sure follows their Dept. S.O.P.'s.

I check their DL like everyone else and make a determination whether to issue a warning or citation based on a multitude of factors. But I wouldn't let an officer off for anything different than a citizen would get a break for just the same.

HAHAHA, really ? Shit beans. Last thing I'd do looking down the barrel of a gun is dare you to pull the trigger.
If I can ask a question to add to the OP's, does it ever cross anyone mind here that a leo might be more deserving of a ticket because of the whole "lead by example" bit ?
