New Ford Racing IRS Diff Cover/Girdle

I'll try it out I mean I was told stock cover with irs brace looks stronger. At this point after my car has been apart for months due to winter/blowing rear end at the track I just want this car to move again. Im gonna try this FR cover it came with the housing. Also throwing a set of 3.73 in there wish me luck guys!
I was just about to pull the trigger and order the 5001 and cover, guess I better wait?:shrug:
We hope to have the proper tooling to mill the Ford Racing covers this Friday. By the end of next week we should have the milled covers available. They will be on a first come first served basis.
Some people have expressed concern regarding the milling of the covers and compromising the structural integrity of them. There are no worries I can assure you. The areas where the milling is being done on the cover is a massively thick portion of the aluminum casting and no structural integrity will be compromised. The end mill will leave a nice radiused corner so no weak areas will be created on the cover. We already have an order promised for our prototype milled cover to a customer.
There will be about a $50 milling charge to modify the Ford Racing covers so they will bolt right into the subframe with no clearance issues regarding the inner toe link mounting brackets.

Yes, the FT5000 should fit because it uses the stock rear diff mount. You just have to replace the rubber bushing and replace it with the delrin rear diff support (FT 1300) that comes in the kit.
+1 just installed the FT5000 kit on my car with the stock rear mount and new Ford Racing cover and everything fit perfectly.
Bruce can you let me know what kit will work with the LPW cover if any please? I have the MM kit for the diff but would like to switch to yours in the future.

The FT 5001 kit will work with the Ford Racing cover, but you will have to do some modification to the cover and the inner toe link mounts.
The milled cover we will offer in the very near future, used in conjunction with the rear diff lowering mount, will not require any modification and bolt in with no issue.
The FT 5000 kit, with our standard Delrin rear diff mounting bushings FT 1300, will work with the LPW cover, however, you will most likely need to grind off the "L P W" letters for clearance as some have had interference issues in the area of the letters.

I'm looking at this cover now that I'm doing my gear swap. What are you guys thinking about the bolts they send with this cover? I'm stuck between lpw and arp bolts or just buying this cover and using the supplied ones. Thanks.
I just used the ones that came with the cover. The washers are not lock washers so I just made sure to use a moderate amount of blue loctite. I figure that Ford Racing spec'd a proper bolt. I'm sure some ARP lovers will disagree.
If you're staying with the oem Trak Lok you might as well put new clutches in it while your in there. Tousley sells them for around $100.
Thanks for the reply bud, I just ordered it through Tousley. I just rebuilt the rear about 1000 miles ago with new LSD everything, I'm just not liking the 373s so putting factory 3.55s back in.

what kind of modifications are necessary? do you have a "how to"?
how much difference is there performance wise between the FT5000 and the FT5001 Kit? is the difference noticable or will it limit the suspension adjustability?

Once we have a machined cover we will post photos for everyone's viewing pleasure. Unless you have access to a milling machine, modifying the cover will be difficult at best. One of our installation facilities did modify a cover with a Dremel tool but I would NOT recommend it!
The inner toe link mounts could be modified somewhat but if you remove too much of that material you will weaken those mounts.
The difference between the FT 5000 and the FT 5001 are the rear diff mounts which is addressed here:

If you don't have a driveline vibe now, the installation of the kit will most likley NOT induce one. If you have a driveline vibe you'll definitely want to opt for thr FT 1401 rear diff lowering mount.

we do have a milling machine at the shop so that would be no problem.
I would not want to modify my cover just based on pictures though, I would like to have exact measurements.
some pages back I asked if the FRPP cover fits without issues and after everyone said yes I ordered my cover and now I probably need to live with the FT5000 kit instead of going with FT5001 which I intended to get.
I do not have the IRS installed yet so I couldn't say if I have a driveline vibe or not :shrug:
I recently put Bruce's kit in, FRPP Cover, and diff lowering mount in.
I had to grind off a couple snips from the toe link buckets to get the diff back in to the sub frame but once it was in it doesn't look like it would of interfered:shrug: But it would have been close. I wish I had better pics but I was working during the night during most of the build.
And to those wondering if the cover integrity would be compromised... it's a VERY thick hunk of metal especially when compared to the stock cover.
