My Cobra needs brakes. Turns out there are a few options out there :D. Since I have never done brakes I am thinking of doing rotors, pads, and a brake flush.

1.) NAPA (Like Parts Source). Performance Ceramic pads and cross drilled rotors. $475.

2.) Late Model Restorations. Hawks sports pads and Powerslot rotors. $580 + whatever shipping

3.) RockAuto. CENTRIC (stopteck?) Pads. Raybesto's cross drilled rotors. $393.68 for parts. $604.07 w/ shipping

4.) Local performance shop. Guy quoted me $500-$600 for Hawks pads and some form of cross drilled rotors.

5.) Lethal Performance. Powerslot rotors and hawk pads. $731.10 + whatever shipping

Now just going on price I like the RockAuto except paying $200 for shipping may push me into a more high performance set up.

Thoughts?

I am doing my brakes very soon as well. I got a quote form tousley ford today. I am not sure what the difference between motorcraft or the ford parts is besides price.

Heres what they can offer.

front pads-Motorcraft $43.98
front pads-Ford $128.69

rear pads-Motorcraft $43.98
rear pads-Ford $116.58

front rotors $128.69ea
rear rotors $83.99 ea

plus shipping

This should be all you'll need. Some people end up needing a pin kit for the front, which runs around $20 per side. Sorry, I'm not sure what tools are required. I believe you have to turn in the rear caliper pistons like on most rear disc setups, but don't quote me on that one.

You can also try looking at what fulltiltboogieracing has to offer. They have front and rear kits that can be used for road racing or street and strip use.

I am trying to figure this out as well. The guy who answered the phone said there is absolutely no difference between the two but the box and Ford needs to make their R&D money back on the OEM / Ford parts so that is why they are 2x the price. Seems strange to me, but could be true. Does anyone know for sure or have tried the Motorcraft pads with good success?
