Good read for sure, I don't think the monster torque down low on the tvs is better unless you can manage to get it to hook in street form. This thread got me looking up pricing and I thought the whipple was around the KB price range. After some research the whipple is only a little more than the tvs and whipple has a ton of pulleys to chose from. Tuff decision, super easy install vs max hp. I'm not a whipple guy but getting a 2.9 for 3700 and some 72 pounders sounds pretty good.

I wonder if you need to change the MAF and tube with the 2.9 ? the stock GT500 is 108MM KR's are 113MM

From the frpp catalog the 2010 fuel system is different than 07-09. i think the injectors are still the same as the 11's.

The the best of my knowledge the 07-12's use the same injectors and same pumps. The only thing that changed in 2010+ was the level sender.

Hope that helps.

nightride made a good point, I understand the low end trq is fun but I have enough fun trying to hook up with stock eaton torque lol

the 2.9 does look like a better highway choice and well a bigger blower, generating less heat making higher numbers sounds like a win to me.

What are you looking at for pricing?

Complete 750 HP Ford Racing Whipple kit that is CARB legal $6300
Ford Racing 2011-2012 GT500 750hp Supercharger Upgrade Kit- Black [M-6066-MSVT29D] : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs

Just the 2.9 Whipple $4400
Ford Racing 2011-2012 GT500 2.9L Supercharger Upgrade (Black) [M-6066-MSVT29TD] : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs

Complete VMP TVS kit with tuner $4000
VMP Tuning - Buy Ford SCT & GM Custom Handheld Flash Tuners Performance Economy Towing: VMP 07-12 Shelby GT500 2.3L TVS SC 750HP Complete Kit with X3

I too was trying to decide which to go with last year. I ended up going with the VMP kit as it was $2300 cheaper than the Ford Racing kit and would get me about the same RWHP that I was looking for. Only reason I would've went with the Whipple is I wanted a polished blower (so $6600 cost) and the smog legal in CA part. Those weren't worth the extra $2600 to me

the regular whipple only goes for 3700 on lethal's site before the SVTP discount I hear about, yet to call and ask them. and the whipple kit that pretty much is the FRPP kit is 5900 dollars....

the VMP TVS is the more obvious choice to get over the regular 2.3 is 3500 without said discount if one even exist. and for the 4k dollar kit your still missing the intake, TB, plugs and fuel pump deal.

my car already has the JLT carbon intake, auxiliary pulley, long tubes and the ford racing fatback with a diablo tuner, all I really need is the blower and the throttle body.

Your looking at paying an extra 700 for the exact same blower it just says Ford Racing. Here is what I had in mind.

Whipple 07-2012 Shelby GT500 STAGE 1 2.9L Supercharger (Black) [WK-200200B] : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs

Lethal gives a SVTP discount but they charge for shipping so it's a wash.

2.9L Whipple Supercharger With Crusher Inlet - Black [WK-200200B] - $3,704.99 : Evolution Performance, Performance Parts & Accessories - Ford Mustang & Shelby Experts

Evolution does free shipping but I'm not sure if they give a forum discount. If you grab the blower, get your stock injectors traded to flow 72lb for 300 and get your tune updated. You have got a street monster for 4k if you do the install yourself.

My opinion on these kits will probably ruffle a few feathers but I'll give it anyway. Any of these whipple or FR kits would be cheaper to buy the parts individually unless you haven't bought a single mod for your car. The VMP kit is a good deal and makes for an easy install. I'm not sure which route I'll take yet as I'm going to max out my eaton first. In an ideal world I would get a KB and a supersnake hood and call it a day. Funding and other priorites dictate I go with the best value for the power I want to make.

You might also contact Steve at Tousley Ford, and Buyfordracing.com for the FRPP/Whipple Kits, and Frpp Tvs Kits. Probably have to phone or e mail them for the best info and pricing. Don't forget Van at Revan Racing for the KB alternative. Lots of good choices.....

I pieced mine together and saved quite a few dollars. Can't recall exact numbers but it was quite a bit. Lethal for the blower, Van was injectors, JLT CAI, L&M throttle body, Amazon for spark plugs. Just have to look around and compare prices. There are deals to be had and cheaper than kits. Your actually paying someone to put the kit together unless you call someone like Van. He'll hook you up and get you what you need.

Vmp tvs will more than satisfy 95% of the gt500 community. Simplicity with big power and 700+ capable. Wouldn't go any other route if I had to do it over

How much HP are you Making? Granted 700rwhp is not a lot. Still I have only heard of one easily making that number. Let's just say he has the only one. How much boost is making this 700 easily.

You've only heard of one VMP TVS making 700 rwhp?

And as a general rule, its +/- 20 psi.
