I saw one of these at the Ford display at Barret-Jackson a couple of weeks ago---very nice looking car. The fit and finish also looked good.

I don't think people will be cross shopping a focus and a mustang gt. 25k seems about right considering the cars it will be competing with.

Right and with 252 hp and 270 torq while weighing 2,950. It sounds meaner than a V6 Mustang which aren't whimpy to begin with.

V6 Mustang at $22k doesn't have Sync or My Ford Touch or cloth recaro's.

oh and BTW guys, Ford is aiming this at mazdaspeed3 and civic si

But Ford owns Mazda. And the Focus and Mazda 3 are basically the same platform sharing chassis and engine. Why would they want to compete with themselves? I know Ford's stake in Mazda was been decreasing but they are still together. I'm not a business major so I could be missing something. I assumed the Focus ST would be up against the GTI, Cooper S, WRX and Civic SI (not a good competitor).

You guys are on crack! The top of the line Focus Platinum can be had new for $24k and sometimes more depending on dealer and they sell like crazy. Here Ford offers a performance model that outdoes the Platinum in every way at an equal price and it's too much? I don't know how they priced it so low because the drivetrain and suspension alone I would assume would have jacked the price way up! SAE numbers were released also at 252hp and 270lbs/trq.

What you really have to pay for is the interior which can be upgraded substantially with the Recaros. If you don't want to pay the extra 4k then simply dont, but people will!

WAAAY too much money for a Focus IMO. I know, I know, it's loaded. Big deal, it's still a Focus that costs $30k optioned out. I could easily find a brand new 5.0 for that money.

Plus additional dealer mark up.
myt dealer already told me I could order one at MSRP...

$25k for a compact car is crazy. That's around $450 a month to be riding around in a focus, and it doesn't make it any better because they add some suspension upgrades and an st to the name.
and a turbo, and it has 250/270 and should get 33-35 hwy.

different markets. I plan on buying the focus as a DD. The backseat is more usable, it has more doors, should run low 14's get me 30+ on the freeway and be a blast on the backroads.
And a new 5.0 for 30k will not have the options the focus does.

Exactly. $30k is a steal.

I agree I optioned one out at 26,800.

Partial leather Recaro's, 252 HP 270 torq, 4 door, weighs less than 3,000 lbs and probably get over 30 mpg. sign me up. I will be getting one. Debating on waiting on the 50th Anv mustang before buying though. Currently owe $3,000 on my Altima than its worth on worse possible trade in value even thoughts it's in great shape.

Also, on top of the 252 HP 270 torq it has a boost adjuster to add more boost after the peak at 2,500 rpm's I've it a broad torq curve.
