ford has a 3% stake in mazda at the current moment.

That's what I was gonna say but the site shut me down. About the only business relationship Ford and Mazda have at this point is the fact that they share platforms.

myt dealer already told me I could order one at MSRP...

and a turbo, and it has 250/270 and should get 33-35 hwy.

different markets. I plan on buying the focus as a DD. The backseat is more usable, it has more doors, should run low 14's get me 30+ on the freeway and be a blast on the backroads.
And a new 5.0 for 30k will not have the options the focus does.

I've heard expectations as high as 40mpg!

I really want a truck but I love the loaded out Focuses and the interiors. At that price picking up a used one would be a steal and the potential of that engine should be pretty good.

I have an 11 eb fx4, they'd go nicely together

I would love an EB, but low 20s is where I need to be right now. I've got my dad's old 97 F250 w/250k on it that was my first vehicle at 16, but it needs to go. I found a 07 F150 King Ranch with a 6in lift and wheels and tires for 22k which would be perfect! But then there's this car which is sweet in itself. I think I would kick myself if I didn't get another truck.

I agree I optioned one out at 26,800.

Partial leather Recaro's, 252 HP 270 torq, 4 door, weighs less than 3,000 lbs and probably get over 30 mpg. sign me up. I will be getting one. Debating on waiting on the 50th Anv mustang before buying though.

I'm trying to find the site but one listed it as weighing 32XX lbs.

Would I buy one? After the bad luck I've had with Ford, no I wouldn't. That's not to say you don't get the best of both worlds with these turbos. Gas mileage and power when you need it. That's a hard combination to dislike.

i think $25k is more than fair. its a hot hatch that is usable as a DD. aftermarket should be strong for it as well.

that said, its slightly disappointing they didnt bring over the 5cyl. anyone know if it uses the same torque diff/lsd as the eruo RS to alleviate torque steer?

**edit , this is what i was referring too...

"Ford RS engineers worked with Quaife to improve the limited-slip differential, and, over six years, developed the "RevoKnuckle" system, which restricts variations in kingpin offset angle. This solution, claims chief programme engineer John Wheeler, "redefines what is possible with front-wheel drive". "

The ST does not get the revoknuckle, that is RS specific. I wanna say the ST has the Quaife limited slip but not positive. What it does have instead is a modified torque vectoring system that is slightly different than previous versions. Everyone is waiting to see just how effective that is.

With the next RS, I think rumors are going that it will have a combination of all of those systems to maximize its grip and handling. The reason the 5 cylinder is no more is because it was a Volvo engine which we all know Ford doesn't deal with much anymore, just like Mazda. The 4 cylinder Ecoboost should be a better motor in every way though, but just lacking the sound that everyone loved in the 5 cylinder. They did tune the 4 cylinder to give it a distinct sound so we'll see.

So if the Flex eco boost tuned by Livernoise MS is running low 13's then what's this thing gonna run after a good tune. Damn

i hope the real RS comes out next year my svt focus can use an upgrade

RS' are usually in development for a long time. I remember reading about different test mules for the current gen RS back when I was a senior in highschool in 04! I had a picture of a rendering on my binder which was spot on now that the car is out and had an article about how they were testing an AWD, 350hp turbo online 6 prototype with paddle shifters and electronically controlled suspension. That would have been a monster!

Completely different engine. Don't get too excited.
That motor is the same base motor that is used in Ken Blocks Fiesta though as well as the rally cars. It should have huge potential!

Wow, after three pages.... suprized no-one posted the this....Here's the build/price page direct from ford:
>
Build Your 2013 Ford Focus ST
>
>
Just like every new SVT purchase I have made:
1- I have waited for the "hype" to fizzle [2-5 yr wait], patience is a must...
2- When A/Z plan pricing becomes available, find a dealer who is "motivated" to sell....
>
I would purchase one if I can find a deal & since I pretty much gave up on waiting for RS to become available state-side....
>
Wife was always "pissy" when I "drooled" over an RS either in a mall parking lot or @ a Ford Dealer [South-of-the-border, MX].... It was pretty cool when those RS owners would stare @ my Cobra & I would be staring @ their RS.....

2012 Focus I've seen weigh 2,950. How is the ST any different? The Mazda Speed3 weighs 3,200 though.

I read they left the Volvo i5 cause it was to thirsty. 2.0 EB to get 20% better mpg.

And yea Joe Capito said Revoknuckle was to expensive for the ST. He said the ST will have dolphin handling while the RS will be a shark.

major bummer on the revoknuckle . curious to see some reviews on how it drives .

Jost Capito developed it before he resigned and he was no joke when it comes to developing these cars. You can bet when Ford told him to build a $25k hot hatch that he was going to fit every bit of performance he could into it. He has that John Colletti attitude.

no one wheel peel,. there will be a limited slip diff BUT that doesnt alleviate torque steer. i know from expereince in my TL-S and sprayed 06 Si. both had limited slips and were still a bear to keep the wheel straight. they had unequal lenth axles though. not sure if the focus will but most fwd do.
