I'm thinking the Focus ST will touch 35mpg highway at worst. In all the other turbo models that ford offers mileage either stays the same as the NA versions. Plus this has a 6 speed.

I'm not too big on the whole 4 door thing, seems a lot less sporty than the Zx2 SVT and the coupes in my body style

Looks like a pretty great ride. No option model becomes even a better value. Anyone truly know if the Focus RS will come to our shores? Actually I'm interested in the rumored SVO Mustang. Someone here said no way. Rumors say it's possible. A TT 6cyl Mustang SVO would be sick. The SHO is nice ride for sure. Put that engine in a mustang would be excellent. One can hope.

To me it's a no brainer that the RS will make it here but I think it's going to be a year or two before it does as it's still under development and development I think has been slowed or put on hold as Jost Capito left the company. Every Focus now is a global vehicle and the development of the RS is going just that route as well with the rumors being that it will use a 2.3l Ecoboost. Just like this ST coming in cheaper than what everyone expected I think the new RS is going to surprise a lot of people on it's price as well. Just speculating but I wouldn't be surprised if it came in at just under $30k base and then could be optioned out. Ford has already said thought that the future of the RS in the US depends on the popularity of the ST and its sales.

yes, it's a very high percentage chance that we're getting the focus RS this go around. a couple things to think about; first you gotta realize that the focus is more of a premium car in europe and competes with the 1 series over there. as such, the material quality is higher and thus the cost is higher than we would pay for such a car here. that's why we've never gotten the RS here and didn't get the real 2nd gen focus. mulally happened to arrive at the perfect time and began the whole "one ford" push and so the current third gen focus was designed as a global car to meet multiple price points for the different markets. i believe that US consumers are now willing to accept a higher priced small car with high quality as well considering ford is selling a lot of focus titaniums(can be optioned up to about $30k).
detroit also didn't want another vehicle in the line up that might hurt the yearly sales of the mustang by offering similar performance. with the advent of the 420HP 5.0l, this is no longer an issue.

both of those issues taken care of, there is now some logic to support the "rumors"(in quotations for a reason).

as far as the coming ecoboost mustang is concerned, i REALLY hope it gets this engine. a V6 with 4 cylinder displacement just fits the mustangs image better IMO, seems more "premium", less "cheap".

The price of that Focus ST comes out looking pretty sweet. Seriously considering one for a DD/weekend outing ride.

I wonder what the Fiesta ST will run?

the average 2012 focus buyer spends 25k and makes over 100k a year because it is such a good car.

:bs:

I know a few people with Foci and absolutely none of them make 100K a year.

I love compacts by the way. I've had Hondas, Nissans and a STI.

Exactly. The Focus, like basically every Ford, has moved significantly up-market from their turn-of-the-century counterparts.

So the average 2012 ford focus buyer makes $100k a year? :dw:
I'm not buying that one bit.

Thats pretty much a guarantee. We all know the only Ford product that has ever retained any resale value is the 03-04 Cobra.:D

Very true. I got out of mine what I paid for it 7 years later. Less the cost of an engine build and a few other goodies.

Since I have an F150 EB, I wanted a vehcile I could commute in and get decent mileage and still able to make a pass when needed. I had been hoping for an EB Focus, however the ST might be more than I want / need.

I wonder what the Canadian price will be. Also anythign more solid on mileage?

.

I know a lot of degreed professionals and none of them drive a focus. Lots of people at my corporate office that make that kind of money...and none of them drvie a focus.

If there were any truth to your statistic I would have to say it is becuase people makiing 100k probably buy Foci for theur teenage children.

Idk, I think my parents make over a 100k and they have a Focus. 100k doesn't go as far as it used to these days. Just because you make that much doesn't mean you have all that money to spend on a $80k BMW. Plus with so many commuters and gas prices, it could be that people that make good money find it as a perfect commuter car.

My wife and I make over 100k and I intend to buy one. The current commuter is an accord. I prefer to buy cheap cars to commute, pretty simple

People with money enhance their wealth by not spending it all on bad investments like cars. Sure some do, but it's not a sound financial decision. But that all depends on what's more important to someone.

I suppose every situation is different. I am fortunate enough to only live 9 miles form my office, so the Shelby is my commuter car :)

While I am sure it is a fine car, it would not be on my list. I have thought about selling my daily driven GT500 in favor of something less practical (no back seat) and picking up something for a daily driver, and I would probably pick up a new Hyundai Sonata at that price point. Bigger car, accerates better.

Typically, I wouldn't buy any new car though. I would rather let someone else take the biggest financial hit from doing so.
