The Shelby SS hood had quite a few fitment issues but nothing that couldn't be overcome. By the time I brought it to the painter he said it was one of the best fitting fiberglass hood he ever seen. The hood actually required shimming the back up 3/8", slotting and extending the hinges to bring it forward about 1/4" and slotting the latch mechanism to allow the front of the hood to drop abou 3/8". I actually had to have extension pieces welded to the end of the hinges to make them long enough. I also figured while he was mixing paint, might as well add the side scoops! BTW, the stripe material I purchased thru VinylGraphics (manufactured by ORACAL) was an exact match.

Looks great. I bought an authentic ss hood over the winter but ended up selling it. Now I know what it would have looked like haha

WOWWY........... That's an awesome all around Ride !

Are those hood pins the "Real Deal" or are they the stick on's?

I ordered my 13 in Sterling Grey / Black Stripes.

Seening your car makes me happy about the choice I made.

I am on the border line of ordering this hood from Trufiber, but i am worried about fitment issues and how much prep work would require to paint the hood. I would hate to end up spending just as much in body/paint work than the hood itself.

It's really not that bad. Just takes a little patience. Oh, and some help taking the hood on and off. I used some aluminum bar stock from Lowe's to fabricate the hood hinge spacers, elongated the hinge holes and latch mechanism holes with a de-burring tool to allow the hood to come forward and sit lower in the front end. Then a good body shop to do the final fit and paint. Or you can deliver the new hood to the body shop and let them do everything!

The hood is $1,499 from Shelby, but I found mine used on Craigslist for $300. At that price I said why not?

By the time I added the hood vents $200, the Super Snake side scoops $239, the hood pins and installation kit $125, prep and paint for hood and side scoops, and new vinyls stripes purchase and installation, the total cost is just under $3,000. Not cheap, but worth it when finished!

Looks great and my favorite color. My friend who has a SS is on his 3rd hood. They have cracked in the sam exact spot each time. Passenger side snorkel, closest to fender. Good luck and I hope you have better luck than him.

Looks clean, nice job! What are you using to lift the hood with?
Prop rod. Installed Redline Tuning Super Snake hood struts but had to remove them because they interfered with hood closing flush. Too bad because they are really nice struts. Every SS hood is slightly different and every now and then the hood struts will not clear. Others have posted about the same problem. The folks at Redline worked with me but could not come up with a fix and so they let me return them for a full refund. Will not go with short struts on a fiberglass hood.

Hood looks awesome. In fact, the whole car looks nice. Great stance and red brake calipers. What springs are your running? Did you paint the calipers?

I'm running FRPP Lowering springs. The front calipers are BAER and were already painted red. I painted the rear calipers with caliper paint from an automotive store. Maybe Duplicolor? Just brush it on.
